of all the places u can ask for information, u use a Bollywood site?!
Google it or Wikipedia it.
should answer all your questions hopefully from reliable sources....
or go on one of many Islamic Websites, specificly formed for answering questions like these.
in Breif yes, Muhhamed was the last Prophet of Islam, but there were many before him, Including Esa' who Christians call Jesus

u guys are rite he wasnt the founder of Islam,
there are good sites online, but always be careful
that what u are readin is authentic, coz there are ppl
who have started creating fake islamic sites with rong info...

its pathetic but true...so just be careful u dont fall into the traps

best thing to do is buy books(kitabs) about islam

Man of Mystery
05-10-2007, 03:59 PM
Yeah, Aaliyah, but why have a religion thread on this site at all then. Half the threads on here are totally unrelated to Bollywood, no?

Surely as a Muslim you would want to share your faith with someone with an interest in it? Mohamed seems to be the principle figure in Islam and has such a lot of respect and veneration from Muslims. I was just asking what he said/did that created all that?

Why do you like him so much?

bollywood_princess
05-10-2007, 05:48 PM
In short...because he is the perfect example of human kind, his characteristics
were the best and even tho he was the closest to Allah he chose
to live a simple life.

But you guys cant tell me? Why was he the best example of humankind? What did he do to earn that accolade? I'm just curious as nothng is ever really said about him. He's not someone whose life is ever really discussed very much.

bollywood_princess
08-10-2007, 10:53 AM
Only Allah knows best why he was chosen to be the last prophet,
he got his prophethood in his 40's.He was a modest man, and he was not
aggressive etc like others. he was kind and loving, he was caring etc...
he lived his life before his prophethood in simplicity, im assuming
that was one of the reasons he was given the status, but again only Allah knows best.

^^^that is my opinion, i ask Allah's forgivness if i have said
anything in correct

Man of Mystery
08-10-2007, 11:09 AM
Oh right...but you follow him just because he was simple, modest and caring? There must be lots of people around like that. I was thinking that there must have been something amazing and great that he said and did that just blew the world away and really impressed everyone ?

There are millions of muslims all over the world that follow him, surely there must be a really big reason why he is so revered and respected ??

Aaliyah~
08-10-2007, 04:25 PM
^^
as its said before. muhammed wasn't the ONLY prophet there where many Suleman, isa, Daud

or Soloman, David or Jesus in the biblical scriptures.

yes / and no
Muhhamed wasn't blessed with any miracle making abilities helped by ALLAH, that the other Prophets had. Such as Moosa and Isa (Moses and Jesus)
yet he is considered the unflawed Prophet.
because even before being given Prohethood he demonstrated these abilities.
and his Modesty and patience were virtues beyond wot we see today.
in his prophethood
Islam was spread by the Book revealed to him by the Angel Gibreel (Gabreil)
ppl listened to his sermons and although there were some heavenly incidents later in his prophethood, this was the main reason for ppl to except Islam.
wow, its really difficult to tell someone about Islam from scratch.
the thing with Islam is that its so complete, bear in Mind Islam wasn't started by Muhammed but from the first Prophet who was Adam, yet Adam was sent to preach the same teachings,
u really need all the background info.
i admit i am not the best to explain this by writing, but sure u know Muslims or have friends who r ?
or don't u?
it much easier if u ask some one personally so u can raise question in between any explanations..

anyone can get a book

but an outside might want to know diff views

like some people were taught this way and that

As i know of it, some of the white people dont know about the prophet, and they want to know about it. I dont tell them "go google it" or something. Some people are just lazy or some people dont want to go buy because they wont understand. Its like, the bible, the bible uses concrete english, so the person might not understand what the Bible is saying.
So thats why you and me are here to explain to those people in a very concise or simple language so they will understand.

Its extremely rude when you tell a person go do this, or go do that.
some people dont have time, money or energy. We are here to help people to understand each other religions.

see the above link! (plz re-arrange (no spaces in between) as i cant post links cuz it says "You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more.")

A book written by Michael H. Hart Most Influential Persons in History
Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was stated the most influential person in the history followed by Isaac Newton and Jesus Christ.

Anyways! back to the topic. Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is the last prophet of God! He is not the founder of Islam. He preched Islam. Islam carries the same message that was passed onto previous nations. The attributes of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and his mode of conduct show us that he was truly a prophet of God. He was, in every aspect of his character, an exemplary human being and history has never witnessed anyone else like him. He was of good appearance and was always neatly dressed, preferring to wear white. He was clean and commanded others to observe cleanliness. When a person approached him and told him that he liked to wear nice clothes and nice shoes, the prophet (peace be upon him) replied by saying: “God is beautiful and He loves beauty. His mercy extended even to animals. He commanded his followers to be kind to the animals in their care and prohibited abusing them. He was also very forgiving to those who wronged him. He never became angry or hateful on a personal level. No matter how greatly someone wronged him when he was weak, he would show that person clemency when he was in a position of power. He was also very humble. He taught his followers: “None will enter Paradise who has within his heart an atom’s weight of pride.” He used to sit on the floor and eat. He fasted so much that it sometimes seemed that he never went a day without fasting. He spent long stretches of the night standing in prayer until his ankles would swell. When he was asked why he worshipped so much when God had forgiven him all of his past and future sins, he replied: “Should I not then be a grateful servant?”

Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is mentioned in various holy scriptures.
Like in hinduism.
A spiritual reformer will come from a foreign land (outside Bharat) with his disciples (companions). His name will be Mahamad (Muhammad). He will dwell in a desert.
(Bhavisyath Purana 3:5-8)

hmmm
no. i don't think its rude.
as i've already said to the Thread opener, u can surely get an opinion on a religion and a person point-of-view.
but if u want facts, its not the most reasonable method of finding out about something as complex as religion
i mean how do u know the person who is supposedly is giving u the info is accurate or even genuine??
it would take just as much effort, time, money (?) and energy to do the research from a reliable web-site like Wikepedia or encyclopedic web-site.
infact it would be much easier...
ofcourse i automatically assumed the person wanted the info as serious facts as the post suggested...

Visit a mosque and ask the mullah, the imam to explain to you who Mohammed(pbuh) was. Visit the sites on the web to find out who Mohammed(pbuh) was, read the books in the library on who Mohammed(pbuh) was and thn decide which story you want to believe. Anyone can say that what they tell you is the thruth. I know what i believe in and you believe in what you want to believe in;)

^Except they do beleive in the prophet, they just don't believe he was the last one. Instead they class Hazrat Ali (R.A.) as the last prophet. All this started when the Prophet (S.A.W.) passed away and then the decisions about who should continue his teachings (Y'know the four Kaliphs).

i think it's become more of a cultural-identity sort of thing in today's muslim society. people ask, "are you sunni or shia?", in the same casual sense that they would ask "are you indian or pakistani?"....they dont mean to critisize one another's religious practices; they're just culturally defying themselves. i think that's okay.

but in other countries where there are people hating/killing/segregating each other - now that's wrong. it's wrong to the same degree that killing anybody for differences in beliefs is. because that's essentially what they're doing. and it's disguisting how muslims cant seem to get along with each other...

i just feel their beleif goes contrary to the fundamental basis of Islam.
islam is based on one beleif, that is "there is no one worthy of worship but Allah and Mohammed (pbuh) was his last prophet"
everthing else comes after...
thats the Kalimah, something thats required to be beleived in to to even become a muslim.
if u beleive Mohammed is not the last Prophet , according to my thinking u can't call urself muslim.
