Sourav not to play Kanpur ODIThiruvananthapuram, April 14: Sourav Ganguly will not be part of the squad for the Kanpur one dayer.
The BCCI order comes even though the ICC has permitted him to play pending an appeal against the suspension.

"There will be no change in the team already selected. Rahul Dravid will be the captain for the Kanpur ODI," Cricket Board secretary S K Nair announced today.

Crucial match

Nair said that since less than 24 hours remained for the start of the Kanpur match, the Board felt that it was extremely important for the players to concentrate and focus on the match.

In view of this, the board decided to continue with the selected team for the Kanpur match.

The board secretary said the position has been explained to Ganguly and he appreciated the decision.
Shouldering blame
Meanwhile, stand-in captain Rahul Dravid has said Ganguly alone was not to be blamed for India's slow over-rate.
He also stressed on the need for the players to address the issue urgently to avoid further trouble.
"It is a responsibility of the whole squad. It is an area we have to do a lot better. It is not just the captain alone. The bowlers and fielders too have to be responsible," Dravid said.
Ganguly was banned for six one-dayers after India failed to finish their overs within the stipulated time for the second successive match in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Dravid, embarrassed at the suggestion that the team might be without him too if they continued to fail in completing the overs in time, denied that this was a deliberate ploy to upset the opposition's rhythm.
