Vivek has no time to breathe?

Vivek last made his public appearance in Shah Rukh’s highly talked about birthday party held only for close friends and family. Indiatimes Movies had also broken the news about how Salman Khan was seen whirling his bike near the venue the very evening.

Anyways coming back to Vivek (yes no more ‘Viveik’, the actor has reverted to his original name) seeing the actor after a long time was refreshing as the actor went almost incognito post the debacle of Mission Istanbul.

We spoke to Vivek’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar to know what the actor has been upto of late. “Vivek has just wrapped up the shoot of the untitled Kumar Taurani film, directed by Kookie Gulati. He was in South Africa for two months and had a great time there as he was trained in Parkour type stunts which became popular in James Bond films and Crouching Tiger, Hidden dragon by two stunts experts Dean from UK and David from Thailand. The film has been tentatively titled as Prince and even Romeo. The final name is not finalised as yet.

Adding further about Vivek’s whereabouts he said, “Vivek is currently extremely tied up with his sister Meghna’s wedding. He doesn’t even have time to breathe as he wants the wedding to be lavish and grand. After that this month he is all set to fly to New York to begin the shoot of Karan Johar’s production, directed by Rang De Basanti script writer Renzel D Silva.”

The film stars Kareena-Saif and Vivek. We asked Dale if Vivek would be playing a supporting actor to the couple he cleared, “There are no lead roles in the film. All three have important roles to play. Vivek has worked with Kareena in Omkara and Yuva and with Saif in Omkara . Vivek in fact called Saif Langda bhaiyya in the film and is extremely fond of the duo.”

Seems like Vivek indeed has no time to breathe given his busy work schedule.

Vivek Oberoi, where has this promising actor disappeared and what has happened to his style sense. First it was the terrible long hair style and now it's the weird dress sense. This actor seems to be going downhill on all counts. After his tryst with Sallu bhai, he's barely been able to get back to acting, of course the industry also claims it is his attitude that goes against him. Well Vivek....it's too late to apologise, so move on and stop begging for forgiveness.

Salman Khan’s Enemy Joins Shahrukh’s Company!

http://www.indiatarget.com/cgi-bin/detailnews.cgi?id=7985

It’s official guys after being repeatedly snubbed by Salman Khan, the Oberoi boy has moved over and joined hands with Salman’s newly found enemy Shahrukh Khan, We spotted him at the fashion show hobnobbing with Gauri Khan and her friends.

We are informed, “Vivek is a regular in Shahrukh’s house and has found a place on their invitee list too. He also seems to have been accepted by their inner circle of friends”.

So after Arjun Rampal, Shahrukh has found another friend in Vivek “Obey-roi”. As for Vivek, his mannat surely seems to have been granted. Looks like his ear holding apologizes to Salman will now cease, as he enters in hi league and palatial of our very own King Khan.

Why Kareena Kapoor amazes Vivek Oberoi!

Despite his MISSION ISTAANBUL falling like a pack of cards at the ticket window, Vivek Oberoi is not unduly worried and the reason behind his cool and calm composure are his upcoming projects with top directors and producers of the industry. One such venture that he is very confident about is Karan Johar's Rensil D'Silva directed untitled film opposite one of the most famous and talked about couple of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

This is Vivek's second film with Saif Ali Khan after the award–winning OMKARA, where both Saif and Vivek put up sterling performances. Vivek is all praise for his OMKARA co–star, who he shares a great rapport with but its his girlfriend and actress Kareena Kapoor who amazes Vivek with her style of functioning. Vivek says that Kareena is a spontaneous actress and her spontaneity amazed him (just like Hrithik Roshan in KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM!). Vivek discloses that Kareena comes unprepared to the sets and believes in no rehearsals, and moreover she does not need many re–takes to deliver a mind–blowing performance.

Infact Vivek adds that at times when he delivers his lines Kareena comes up with totally different ones or she simply forgets and starts to smile. She makes the tense atmosphere on the sets light with her easy going attitude. After working with her for a while now, Vivek has now got used to Kareena's style of working and is full of admiration for his co–star, who he feels contributes to a stress free and light working environment, where there is no pressure and thus all perform brilliantly.

Here's looking forward to another winner from the Dharma Production stable after DOSTANA!

Shah Rukh Khan’s camp doing wonders for struggling Vivek Oberoi

Mumbai, Nov 15: Vivek Oberoi, once hailed as one of the most talented newcomers almost wrecked his career, when Mrs Aishwarya Bachchan entered his life. He did some demeaning pleadings with superstars to straighten out his messy career, but to no avail. But the infamous battle between Shah Rukh and Salman changed his life! How? Well, initially, he tried to appease Salman (the two had fought over Aishwarya) was shooed off. Then Vivek went over to Shah Rukh’s camp and that did wonders.

Vivek Oberoi, now boasts of a prestigious unnamed project by Shah Rukh’s ‘very close friend’ Karan Johar, that also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The ‘Omkara’ trio of 'Langda Tyagi', 'Dolly' and 'Keso' would be seen on big screen again. The film is directed by Rensil D'Silva, who had written ‘Rang De Basanti’. Rensil D'Silva is to begin shooting by mid-October.

Vivek Oberoi is playing his cards safe; he is all praises for his co-actors. Talking about Kareena, the actor said, “Kareena comes unprepared to the sets and believes in no rehearsals. Moreover she does not need many re–takes to deliver an amazing performance.”

Recently, Vivek was seen in a party thrown by Shah Rukh and Gauri. According to an eyewitness, "At Gauri's party at Mannat (to celebrate SRK's 43rd birthday) Saturday night, most people were shocked to see Vivek Oberoi getting up close and personal with SRK and Gauri. VO's appearance at the bash is surprising because Gauri's party was a very intimate one meant only for a select few those very close to the couple's innermost circle."

“Though Vivek and SRK have been bonding over the last few months (Vivek had even gone to Kolkata to cheer for Shahrukh's ‘Knight Riders’ team) especially due to Karan Johar (Vivek acts in his next along with Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan), that still doesn't explain Vivek's presence at such an exclusive party! There were very close friends present and Vivek is not doing any ads, film or shows with Shahrukh. Their sudden bonding raised lots of eyebrows at the party as people kept wondering about the connection," the source added.

Well, we hope that amidst this camps and intrigues, Vivek doesn’t goof up again to end up a loser. Hold on tight to King Khan’s camp!

I need to polish myself more, says Vivek Oberoi

New Delhi, August 6: : Vivek Oberoi started his Bollywood career by a negative role in Ram Gopal Verma’s Company that bagged him the Filmfare Award for the best newcomer as well as the Best Supporting Actor.

Though his film career took off with a bang, it was the release of critically-acclaimed and commercial successes, Saathiya, Omkara, Shootout in Lokhandwala, which established his merit as an actor.

But, if one goes by the word of the performer himself, Vivek swears by his character of Kesu Firangi which he played in Omkara and proclaims it to be his best film yet. Expressindia.com meets the actor during his recent Delhi trip.

What types of roles do you love to do? Are you still to perform in your dream role?

Each role comes up with its unique challenges, which excites me, and I try to give my best to it. Every role, which I have to perform, is like a dream role.

How do you react to different types of roles?

Like for any other actor, every role is like a challenge for me. I don’t like a role until I feel butterflies in my stomach. There is that anxiety, which comes with each character we play and makes us perform better each time.

How do you rate your movies and where does Omkara stand for you?

Omkara is my best performance yet. Though as an actor I strive to keep improving on myself but so far, this movie is outstanding for me. Omkara is a milestone for me.

Personally speaking, are your satisfied with whatever Omkara has achieved?

Yeah, to a great extent, I am happy with the way Omkara was received by the people and the enthusiastic response it got. It did very good at the box office and was widely critically-acclaimed. I, personally feel it should have been our entry for Oscars.

It represents the Indian sentiments better than any other movie produced in the same year. Omkara is that genre of the movie, which seems to bridge the divide between the commercial and the serious cinema.

Apart from yours, which character you like the most in Omkara?

I loved the ‘villainous character’ of Langda Tyagi in Omkara played by Saif Ali Khan. He played it absolutely well. Nobody could have played that role better than Saif. His performance as Langda Tyagi was phenomenal.

How far can Omkara be called a commercial film?
Omkara cannot be called a serious film in the real sense of the word because it had...an item number, but again it cannot be called a commercial film because it is a docu-drama, which is simply packaged to suit the commercial cinema.

Do you like sports based movies? Do you intend to do a sports-based movie?

Personally speaking, I love sports. Though, I am myself not involved in any sports based film at present. A couple of movies based on sports are in the offing and I hope people will like them.

In Shootout at Lokhandwala, you play the role of a dreaded gangster Maya? How far was this character you played in the movie was in conformity with the real life gangster?

It was again a very challenging role for me. But as far as the real life gangster (on whose life my character was based) is concerned, I have only heard about him. While shooting for this movie (Shootout at Lokhandwala), I collected data about this character. I tried to learn the minutes of my role in all possible ways to do justice to my character, but still there are certain things about the character, which remain untouched.

What are your upcoming projects?

I am working for Mission Istanbul directed by Apoorva Lakia. It is being made by Balaji Motion Pictures (in co-production with Popcorn Motion Pictures). Most of the cast in this film is the same from Shootout at Lokhandwala.

How do you rate your performance in Bollywood so far?

As an actor, I need to polish myself more. I am still in the learning process....

Sallu refuses Vivek's invitation

In fact, Oberoi's persistence annoys him .

Vivek Oberoi has left no stone unturned to patch up with Salman Khan and the Bachchan family.

He attended the funeral of Amitabh’s mother Teji Bachchan and somewhat managed to ease his relationship with the Bachchans. However, all his attempts to reconcile with Sallu have failed.

His latest effort was to invite Sallu to his sister Meghna's wedding on November 14.

Although the wedding was a private affair, a few people from the industry were also invited.

When Vivek came to know that Salman was in town he sent him an invite in the form of a text message. He specifically mentioned that it would mean a lot to him if Sallu attended the wedding.

Salman, however, did not respond to this message. After repeated messages from Vivek, Salman reportedly sent an angry message to Vivek.

Seems Sallu really doesn’t believe in either forgiving or forgetting.

Mumbai, Nov 24: Salman Khan seems to have decided that he will never forgive Vivek Oberoi for holding that notorious press conference and calling him names. After calling the poor Oberoi lad an ‘idiot’, Salman has disheartened Vivek yet again by turning down the invite for Meghna Oberoi’s (Vivek’s sister) wedding.

According to reports, Vivek was desperately seeking Salman’s presence at his little sis’ marriage reception, but the hot blooded Khan refused to budge. Apparently, Oberoi tried every possible way to convince Salman. He even wrote him a long emotional message requesting the pleasure of Sallu’s esteemed company but guess what? Salman didn’t even bother to reply to his message.

Sources close to Salman suggest that Salman was quite infuriated by Vivek’s antics and had chosen to ignore the entire episode but it appears that poor Oberoi chap seems to have lost all his self respect with all his movies. Despite Sallu’s constant snubs, the actor kept on sending feelers and enraged Salman to give him a piece of mind after all that crap. It is believed that Salman wrote Vivek one hell of a message in reply to Vivek’s humble requests, hopefully this shall cool him off forever!

The actor is trying to reconcile with everyone he’s had differences with in the industry to revive his career

Vivek Oberoi seems to be in the mood to reconcile with everyone he has had differences with. The actor, who is alleged to have rubbed many Bollywood personalities the wrong way, was trying to kiss and make up by inviting them to attend his sister Meghna’s wedding on November 14 at Rishikesh.

After allegedly sending an invite (in vain) to Salman Khan, industrywallas say Vivek had also said that he would personally invite the Bachchan family to come and bless his sister. But at the event, Bollywood’s first family (obviously not over Vivek’s past relationship with Aishwarya Rai, now a Bachchan bahu) was not there.

“Vivek is really trying to bridge the differences that he has had in the past and wants to reconcile with everyone. These differences have cost his career heavily and he surely doesn’t want to keep these problems going on forever. He had thought of inviting the Bachchans for this very select occasion personally. He has tried to build a relationship with them for a long time now. But the Bachchans were not there. Maybe they were busy, or maybe he just didn’t send invites. Only Vivek can tell,” says a source.

Vivek remained unavailable for comment. We even asked Amitabh Bachchan whether he had received an invitation from Vivek, but he also chose not to comment.

Tara Sharma will be playing Vivek Oberoi’s love interest after most leading heroines declined to star opposite him

Vivek Oberoi has finally found somebody to star opposite him in the Karan Johar film to be directed by Renzil D’Silva. Tara Sharma plays his love interest in the film. Vivek must be breathing a sigh of relief specially after so many press reports claimed that not many Bollywood ladies are game to work with him.

Vivek’s last three releases Mission Istanbul, Fool N Final and Shootout at Lokhandwala saw him without a heroine. The other film that he is currently associated with has two newcomers paired opposite him. Apparently Bipasha Basu was approached for this film but she declined to be cast alongside Vivek. With Salman Khan in no mood to reconcile with him, Katrina Kaif (Sallu’s girlfriend) too can’t work with him. The other leading stars are also not too enamoured by Vivek, who at one point of time was the next big thing in the industry. Karan’s film will see Kareena Kapoor pair up with Saif Ali Khan as the lead and Vivek, though he plays a pivotal character, has to be content with the second fiddle. Many thought that he would be teaming up with Kareena but that’s not the case certainly.

“I have been paired with Vivek for Karan Johar’s film. Though I don’t have a very big role but still it’s a very nice character that I’m playing. I play a journalist in the film and Vivek is my boyfriend. He has a very strong role in the movie,” Tara says.

http://www.zorsebol.com/celebrities-photos/vivek-oberoi-new-girl-friend-whos-the-new-girl-in-viveks-life/

Vivek Oberoi started his career with dynamic role in Company and that was it. We did not see much of Vivek in any other movie, however, he was in news with his relationships with Bollywood Actress and other girls from the glamour industry. His relationship with Aishwariya Rai was the biggest news in the industry before Ash walking off and finally marrying to Abhishek.

Recently Vivek was spotted with a HOT (hope we aren’t sounding litchy here) friend and immediately there were speculations of a new girl in Vivek’s life. Vivek was one of the special guest for Car Designer Dilip Chabria’s new cars exhibition at Taj lands end. Checkout the Pictures of Vivek with his new girl friend:

It doesn't help being someone's daughter in Bollywood

Mumbai (IANS): Zoya Akhtar, whose directorial debut "Luck By Chance" is a refreshing take on Bollywood's manipulations and double-standards, says she virtually had to knock on all the big doors of filmdom for casting someone in the lead role, but no one agreed.

"It doesn't help to be this one's daughter and that one's brother. Farhan's name got me access to the stars, but no one does a film for who has sent you," Zoya, daughter of well-known lyricist Javed Akhtar, told IANS.

"The hardest part was the endless waiting to find the actor. I was dying to get behind the camera. My producer Ritesh Sidhwani kept telling me not to get low, we'll find the right guy. Little did we realise that the right guy was sitting in the room with us," she said of her director-actor brother Farhan Akhtar.

The film shows the dilemma of outsiders and strugglers in the industry and Zoya says she herself had to go through the grind.

"I went through these times when I felt I just didn't fit in. I went through lows when I wondered when I'd finally be able to make a film. But the trick was to hang in there. Thank God for family and friends. Thank God for Farhan. They kept my morale from sagging to ground level," she said.

Saif Ali Khan and Vivek Oberoi wanted her to change the ending because they didn't want to play a Bollywood struggler. But Zoya is happy with the final outcome.

Mumbai: World renowned autocar designer Dilip Chhabria showcased his artwork of three years for the first time in the country in an exhibition that was attended by patrons of his creations.

And while his paintings and sculptures speak for his creative genius, for him it is just an extension of his renowned sense of design.

The exhibition was also attended by actors Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi, both ardent fans of Chhabria's work.

"I am very happy to be here. His work is great. There is so much aggression and it's so futuristic," Shetty said.

And while Suniel is an art lover, Vivek is a loyal patron having owned quite a few of Chhabria's works.

"He has built a bus for me as well as my sports car," says he.

The two-day exhibition is open to viewing at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai from January 31.

DC or DV, what do we call the host?’ — that was the question on all the guests’ minds at the preview of Dilip Chhabria’s debut art exhibition on Dilip Chhabria and Vivek Oberoi Friday evening.

Famous as an automobile designer, guests now saw another artistic side to the man, that of a painter and sculptor. “I’m the new Da Vinci,” smiled Dilip, making the guests wonder whether they should call him DC or DV now!

Suniel Shetty was among the first ones to enter and among the last to leave — he took his time walking around, observing each painting and sculpture closely as Dilip explained the intricacies of the same to him. Guess it was his love for bikes and cars that kept him gripped! Meanwhile, Canadian Consul General Gary Luton also did the rounds of the room. Viren Shah, dressed in a smart white jacket, discussed the ‘GenNext’, futuristic works with Subhash Awchat and a much thinner looking Bharat Dabholkar. Asha Patel was seen in conversation with Dilip’s family, while Poonam Soni caught up with a friend. Devieka and Suresh Bhojwani and Devita Saraf appreciated the striking works as well.

Dilip’s good pal Vivek Oberoi made a rather late entry, along with a female friend Grace. He too enjoyed taking a dekko of the works with Dilip. Soothing music, cocktails and snacks, and engaging conversation (mostly about cars and art) summed up this eventful evening.

Vivek Oberoi was accompanied by a mystery woman at two recent events -director Arif Sheikh’s wedding and Dilip Chabria's art show – leading to speculations about her identity and link to the much-single actor.

While he happily and comfortably hovered around her and posed for photos with her on both occasions, Vivek had refrained from disclosing her identity.

The mystery, however, has now been solved.

The woman in question is apparently an Italian called Grace. She is a professional surfing trainer whom Vivek met while shooting in South Africa. She is said to be visiting Mumbai in connection with her work, as she is also the brand ambassador for Billabong

However, it’s also been disclosed that there is no romantic relationship here. Not surprisingly, they are said to be just good friends.

Vivek refused to say anything about her girl and even told the photographers not to publish anything before a fortnight. Now, the buzz is that the girl in question is Grace and Vivek seems to be smitten by her.

Vivek Oberoi has a reputation of being quite the lover boy, charmer and is seen in the company of women most of the time. In the past he has officially dated Aishwarya Rai and was previously engaged to model Gurpreet Gill. In between he has his share of flirtatious flings and has been linked to various co-stars. While his movies seem to flopping all around him, Oberoi has no lack of women who flock to his side.

His latest muse that has been seen loitering around him at various functions and events is a beautiful Italian woman by the name of Grace. However, before you jump to any conclusions about the very much single actor, insiders say the duo are just “good friends.” Grace is a professional surfer trainer whom Vivek met on a trip to South Africa where he was learning the water sport. Initially, when he was asked about her, he refused to divulge any details; however, the mystery was soon solved and it was revealed that she is the brand ambassador for Billabong and hence was in the city for work.

Sources also claim that the couple are very comfortable around each other and are more than happy to pose for a picture or two for the media. Right Vivek, keep on denying your new love interest…we know you’ll soon crumble and spill the beans!

Jha's satire to deal with political irony
4 Feb 2009, 0251 hrs IST, Pranava K Chaudhary, TNN
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Patna/Jhas_satire_to_deal_with_political_irony/articleshow/4071542.cms

PATNA: From the dusty bylanes of the Hindi heartland to the air-conditioned chamber of the Election Commission, from booth capturing to the
countermanding of elections all these ingredients of drama will feature in filmmaker Prakash Jha's political satire Rajneeti.

Jha has just begun shooting for the multi-starrer film in Bhopal, which will showcase ironies of the contemporary political system in the Hindi heartland besides dealing with his personal electoral experiences.

Naseeruddin Shah, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi and Manoj Bajpai will be seen in different roles in this political drama. Bajpai, a native of West Champaran district, figures for the first time in a Jha film. "Naseer plays a powerful Leftist leader," said Jha.

Jha has selected 20 places in Bhopal to shoot the film. The main set is being erected in Kotara and Sultanabad localities.

Talking to TOI from Bhopal, Jha said, "The movie will capture the present day political system and ironies prevailing in the contemporary democratic set-up."

Incidentally, Jha unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha elections from Bettiah in Bihar in 2004 as an Independent candidate. And this time too he is in fray. Therefore, there will be a break in the shooting in March. He has already started campaigning in Bettiah. Last month he was in Bettiah busy addressing a series of meetings.

LJP chief and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan has informally announced Jha's name for the Bettiah seat. The announcement assumes significance as Jha was once considered very close to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. In the 2005 assembly elections, Jha even shared dais with Nitish during electioneering. However, the filmmaker has kept his options open -- whether to contest on a party ticket or as an Independent.

Jha has to his credit box office hits like Hip Hip Hurray, Damul, Mrityudand, Gangaajal and Apaharan, depicting social evils in Bihar. His trilogy of films Damul, Mrityudand and Gangaajal was his method of social interaction with people of Bihar

Nandana fractures her foot
Wednesday, February 04, 2009 06:31 [IST]
http://movies.indiainfo.com/2009/02/04/090...33_nandana.html (http://movies.indiainfo.com/2009/02/04/0902040633_nandana.html)

Mumbai: Noble laureate Amartya Sen's daughter Nandana Sen has fractured her foot severely while shooting for Vivek Oberoi's forthcoming film being directed by Kukkee Gulati.

This is certainly bad news for Ketan Mehta whose film Rang Rasiya is expected to release on February 27th as Nandana certainly won't be physically available to promote the film. It's a presence that Rang Rasiya will sorely need to raise the level of interest among people since it does not boast of A-list stars. Nandana has been advised rest by her doctors for four weeks at least.

Nandana confirms the injury saying: "It happened during the Tips film, the action flick with Vivek Oberoi. It will take four more weeks (to heal)."

Earlier a source tipped us off about the development. "Nandana was really excited to do some strenuous action scenes for this movie and had trained herself properly for the physical challenges. But she injured herself during one very challenging stunt when she landed heavily on her foot. She was in a huge amount of pain and had to be rushed to the doctor. An X-ray showed that she had fractured her foot. The team was very sad but Nandana took it as a sport. "

Another insider adds: "This is not good news for Ketan as he really needs his film to work specially after Mangal Pandey was panned so heavily by critics and did not do very well at the counters either. Rang Rasiya does not have big cast. Randeep Hooda and Nandana are the mainstays for his film and he needs to push promotions through them. Randeep was also injured sometime back but he will be fine when the promotions start. Nandana can't be around then since she cannot move around freely with a fractured foot."

So, will Ketan push back the release for his film? Let's wait and watch.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor playing terrorists in Rensil D'Silva's film?

2009 is a special year for Rensil D'Silva as he takes the big leap from writing to direction. By now it's known to one and all, that Rensil would be making his directorial debut with the Saif-Kareena-Vivek Oberoi starrer to be produced under the banner of Dharma Productions.

The buzz in the media circles is that the intense film is titled Jihaad but Rensil denied this rumor. "No...my film is not called Jihaad. It's a name that the media seems to have given the film but it's not the official title", says Rensil

Probe him a little bit on what the film is about and Rensil says, "It's a romantic thriller set against the backdrop of global terrorism."

There is a strong buzz that Saif and Kareena are playing terrorists in the film but the director is not ready to reveal much. "I can't reveal plot points or character sketches at this point of time", says the writer turned director, who doesn't deny the news.

Apart from Saif, Kareena and Vivek Oberoi the film was supposed to star Tara Sharma. However, the actress is due to have her first baby soon and hence had to back out of the project. Minissha Lamba would now be essaying that part. The supporting cast also includes Kirron Kher, Om Puri and some talented new faces.

So, how much of the film's shoot is complete at this stage? "We are around 40% through with filming. We've shot in Philadelphia, Delhi and the Mumbai schedule is currently underway. We plan to complete shooting by May and will release the film in the last quarter of 2009," says Rensil.

While the story of the film has been written by Karan Johar, Rensil has worked on the screenplay of the film. An interesting fact however is that instead of Dharma favorites Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, this time it would be Salim-Sulaiman who would be composing music for this film.

Update on Rensil D'Silva's next

If the grapevines are to be correct, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are both playing terrorists in Rensil D'Silva's next. More recently, rumors were flying around tinseltown, that the untitled movie was finally being named Jeehad. However, D'Silva put those rumors to rest, "No... my film is not called Jihaad. It's a name that the media seems to have given the film but it's not the official title."

He did however, confirm that the movie was set in the surroundings of terrorism, "It's a romantic thriller set against the backdrop of global terrorism... can't reveal plot points or character sketches at this point of time." Over 40% of the movie has been shot in Philadelphia, Delhi and currently ongoing in Mumbai.

D'Silva has taken on a big chunk of the hit Omkara cast which, apart from Kapoor and Khan, also includes Vivek Oberoi. Initially Tara Sharma was due to star opposite Oberoi but the actress is on her way to becoming a mother and has been replaced by Minissha Lamba. The supporting cast also includes veteran actors Om Puri and Kirron Kher along with some newcomers.

This is definitely a film to watch out for. We will bring you more updates as we hear them.

Terror kya hoga, Irrfan?

Irrfan Khan was recently offered a plum role in a Karan Johar film to be directed by Rensil D’Silva. While one would expect him to jump at the Irrfan Khan opportunity, the Oscar-return actor has turned down the role. Now, Vivek Oberoi has landed that powerful role of a terrorist.

Explains Irrfan, “See, the script and the role were quite tempting, and to top it all, it’s a Karan Johar production. But it will take more than such factors to get into a terrorist’s dark and conflicting space. The truth is, I won’t play a terrorist even if the world’s greatest director offers me the part.”

It is surprising for Irrfan to say this, we feel. Fearless enough to play a sadistic cop in Slumdog Millionaire and a closet gay leading a dual life in Migration (Mira Nair’s film on AIDS), Irrfan’s quest for exploring dark characters ends at the doorstep of a terrorist.

Says Irrfan, “I have no qualms about playing the lowliest of all creatures, but I find it too disturbing to explore the psyche of a terrorist. It’s too close for comfort.” Interestingly, Saif Ali Khan too plays a terrorist in the film.

After a streak of bad luck at the box office, one-time Bollywood hearthrob Vivek Oberoi hopes to make a mark again with his much-awaited

When Vivek Oberoi made his debut with Company in 2002, he was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. However, soon after the success of Saathiya, his dream run at the box office ground to a halt. And it took him roles such as that of Kesu in Omkara and gangster Maya Dolas in Shootout at Lokhandwala to regain footing in the slippery, slimy, unforgiving world of Bollywood.

Now, though, the actor is back to doing what he does best -- emoting -- and this time, with two much-awaited movies -- Kookie Gulati's Prince and Rensil d'Silva's next, co-starring Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. "It was an absolute pleasure working with Saif and Kareena. They are both fantastic actors and fabulous human beings," says the actor, who's been linked in the past to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and which, many aver, cost him several prime roles at the peak of his career. Oberoi was in town for the inauguration of an art exhibition by Dilip Chhabria at the Tilting Art Gallery in Ishanya Mall on Friday evening.

Looking dapper in a simple yet elegantly cut black jacket teamed with denim, Oberoi held forth on his forthcoming film Prince directed by Kookie Gulati. "I am really looking forward to this film. Kookie has done a brilliant job of directing it," says the actor. It's set in Durban and revolves around the search for a rare gold coin. It also stars British actress Aruna Shields, who'll make her Bollywood debut with the film, slated for release early next year.

Asked about his reaction on the success of Slumdog Millionaire, Oberoi says it's a great honour for Indian talent, especially for A R Rahman. "It feels good to be recognised and when that recognition comes at the level of the Oscars, it's a different feeling altogether. I've always admired Rahman's music and he's given some absolutely fantastic music in some of my films as well. Kudos to him!"

Ash's-Vivek's Filmfare face-off

Being in the same industry, this had to happen. And to tell you the truth, I was waiting for it since the day Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi broke up. I mean these reunions are fun, right. If not for the two involved, at least for the onlookers.

My little birdie, who keeps twittering about all these goings-on in tinsel town told me all about the Ash-Vivek face off during the recent Filmfare awards.

Well, it so happened that though they obviously tried to avoid each other, Ash and Vivek were caught face-to-face while Vivek was giving bites to the media and posing for the cameras. Ash and hubby Abhi arrived right then.

But Bachchan bahu, being the diplomatic little thing she is, pretended that she hasn't seen her ex lover at all. She in fact started chatting with her husband Abhishek. Theykept sitting inside their car till Vivek finished and then went inside.

Vivek Oberoi however noticed this entire thing and was rather pissed off. Though he went in just then, he left the venue soon after.

I know, I expected fireworks but then again, 'pretending not to see' and 'rushing out of the venue' is good enough dough for Juicy Mausi!

“Touchy” moments of the award function

Some moments of the Filmfare ceremony were noted by all. One of the moments was when Amitabh Bachchan stood up from his chair to avoid greeting Rekha. Many were surprised to see. Audience praised and gave standing ovation to A.R. Rahman, when he took award for Jodhaa Akbar’s composition and it was like people wanted to greet him for his success at Oscars.

The 54th Filmfare award ceremony was hosted by Ranbir and Imran who arrived to the function on their bikes and they were joined by Konkona Sen and Deepika Padukone for the hosting the show. Many could see just friends, Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor backstage enjoying talking to each other. May be they were congratulating each other for their successes in the year after the flop ‘Saawariya.’

The Bachchans including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were last one to enter the function as their car entered the ceremony and Aishwarya too tried to avoid looked upon by Vivek Oberoi, who was entering the function at the same time. Something similar happened when Kareena Kapoor saw Shahid at gate as her car entered the function and she was sitting with Saif Ali Khan on the back seat of her vehicle.

Om Puri got the Life time achievement award was another moment of high emotion as Amitabh Bachchan presented him the award. Farhan Akhtar‘s excitement for father Javed Akhtar’s achievement was equally evident. Aishwarya joined her husband in saying “I like the Filmfare as the Bollywood fraternity gathers here and praises our work.”

Mumbai, March 05: Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi, who were once a much in love couple, got caught in an awkward face off during a recent award function.

The two were obviously trying to avoid each other, but there were moments when they couldn’t help facing each other. While Vivek was giving bytes to the media and posing for the cameras, Ash and hubby Abhi arrived right there and then.

Aishwarya reportedly was at her diplomatic best, as she pretended that she hasn`t seen her ex lover boy at all. Abhi and Ash kept sitting inside their car till Vivek finished and then went inside.

Vivek, on the other hand, seemed to be rather pissed off. Although, poor actor had went in just then, but chose to leave the venue very soon.

Undoubtedly, when ex lovers meet, fireworks can be heard from distant and if the separated couples are prominent personalities like the Bachchan bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi, bombardment are sure to take place. Similar kind of jhatkas has been experienced when Ash came across her ex lover Vivek Oberoi at the Filmfare Awards night.

Ash encountered with Vivek when he was giving bites to the media. In order to avoid Vivek, Ash who was accompanied by hubby Abhishek Bachchan did not step out of their car and both were seen chatting inside the car creating an impression as if she had not seen him.

Though Vivek was busy with his activities, he was aware of the fact that Ash was trying to avoid him. As if he was ignorant of the entire affair, Vivek walked in. Soon after he entered, Ash and Abhi went inside. Vivek did not stay there for long and left the venue soon.

Ash tries to pretend smart but she does not know that there are people smarter than her that follows their every movement.

Dharma in Rs 60-cr distribution deal

MUMBAI: Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has inked a distribution deal with UTV for Rs 60 crore. The deal will be for worldwide distribution rights
for two forthcoming films that Dharma will produce. It also includes theatrical, home video and satellite distribution rights. The films — Wake Up Sid and Rensil D’Silva’s untitled film — are slated to be released during the second half of 2009.

Wake Up Sid, directed by Ayan Mukherji stars Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma, while Mr D’Silva’s film will star Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi.

“Ronnie and I have been in touch for over a decade, and we are happy that an opportunity to work together has arisen, as it is a great interaction. His passion and understanding of cinema is great,” Karan Johar told ET.

The deal marks a significant step for both Dharma and UTV since it is for the first time that a Dharma film will not be released by Yash Raj Films. For UTV, the deal is interesting since it will get to distribute a film that it is not producing. “The fact that we’ve decided to acquire another production company’s film signifies the importance of this deal to us. Karan has an understanding of the pulse of the audience, which he combines with hardcore entertainment,” said UTV CEO Ronnie Screwvala.

On the decision to move out of Yash Raj Films, Mr Johar clarified, “This is not the end of the road with Yash Raj Films and they will always be family to me.” Dharma Productions last successful release was Dostana, which was distributed by Yash Raj Films.

The shooting of Vivek Oberoi's PRINCE OF THIEVES (also referred to as PRINCE), being produced by Kumar Taurani's Tips Music Films, is currently on in full swing in the picturesque hill state of Himachal Pradesh. The entire cast and crew, which included the lead actor, Vivek Oberoi and the director Kuki Gulati spent the whole day shooting in and around Kullu-Manali and Mandi district

The first day of shooting (Saturday) started early at five with the set being readied for the cast and at around eight o'clock Vivek and the support cast reached the location, which was erected around the famous Hanogi Mata (Devi) Temple in Mandi district near the Pandoh dam. The director Kuki Gulati, in a hired chopper, flew around the beautiful locales and also shot for a few scenes, which included aerial shots of the Pakistani army patrolling the National Highway-21.

Later Vivek too flew around in the chopper for sight-seeing as well as some action sequences. This included an attack on Vivek by the support cast, which was made to rehearse for a while before the shoot and there were a few chase sequences on the raft too, at the majestic Beas river.

Shooting went on till late afternoon. On Sunday, the shooting continued at a brisk pace in different locales of Kullu valley. Tourists and locals gathered in hordes to see the stars and shooting. These were the last few shots of the film in the Kullu-Manali valley.

As per the local coordinator, later this week the whole unit will shift to another beautiful and picturesque point, Kasol and then Shimla.

Vivek's PRINCE OF THIEVES runs into rough weather!
March 21, 2009 2:49:45 PM IST
Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network

Just a few days back, we had brought you the first hand shooting report of Vivek Oberoi's PRINCE OF THIEVES (also referred to as PRINCE), a Tips Films Presentation from the picturesque Kullu-Manali valley in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh. And here is an update.

CHECK OUT: Tips' PRINCE OF THIEVES seeks Hanogi Mata's blessings!

The last shooting schedule of the film in Himachal Pradesh kicked off in Manikaran, the region famous for its hot water springs and the historic Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara. The day started early with a set being erected. Most of the shooting scenes that were filmed involved action sequences and lead actor Vivek Oberoi participated in all of them. He performed some amazing stunts himself - Jumped from high cliffs, fought bare handed in the midst the freezing, gurgling and dangerous Parvati river, rode rafts amongst ferocious waves. The action director Allan Amin was very satisfied towards the end of the day, and attributed it to Vivek's recent one month training for the same... In between all this, the unit ran into rough weather due to some thunder showers and storm. Even that was a blessing in disguise as the director Kuki Gulati was successful in capturing some scenes that required filming in dust and storm.

As we file this report, the unit is expected to return back to Bombay, after completing the Himachal schedule.

The talented actor's bad run seems to be finally over!

After heartbreak and a dizzying vortex of non-stardom, Vivek Oberoi is back in the reckoning, if Karan Johar's next movie is anything to go by. He will be playing an important character in the untitled film, to be directed by Rensil D'Souza.

Karan, who is currently in Miami shooting for Dostana, confirmed. "Yes, I have signed Vivek for my next film. I was really impressed with his role in Shootout at Lokhandwala. It is an unusual love triangle between two guys and a girl. Saif, Vivek and Kareena will play the respective roles."

He added, "The basic idea came from me but it was Rensil who developed it into a proper story. The film will go on the floors in October. It will be completed by the first quarter of next year and will be shot in London."

This will be Vivek's second film with Dharma Productions after Kaal (2005).

Mumbai: 19-year-old Shobhit Kaushal is in a desperate hurry to complete his painting, a part of a collection of 11 that are going to be part of his first and last art show today. In between bouts of intense pain Kaushal says, "While I feel crippled with pain and emotions, I know I have to hurry up."
Shobhit Kaushal

Kaushal who is in his last stage of cancer is suffering from multiple organ failure and barely has strength to pick up a paintbrush. According to his attending doctors, the young artist has but a few hours to live. Still, Kaushal has made it his mission to attend his own preview.

In his five-year long association with 'Make A Wish Foundation,' Kaushal found anadmirer in Vivek Oberoi. A source recounts, "Shobhit was known for his art and poetry. A few years ago, Vivek came down to meet the kids and instantly took a liking for him."

A source from Gallery Art and Soul where the show is scheduled to take place, says, "We sent out invites to all our contacts -- almost 1,300 people. Jaya Bachchan has particularly expressed interest in the artist's case."

For Kaushal who is now on a strict diet of only fruit juices, Monday will mark the end of a struggle, after which he will go home to Kanpur to spend his last few hours with his family.

Salman Khan clashes with old foe Vivek Oberoi on November 27th
April 4th, 2009 - 4:00 pm ICT by sampurn

Salman Khan’s most ambitious film till date Veer has been scheduled for a November 27th release date. But on the same date Dharma Productions’ yet untitled Saif Ali Khan – Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi starrer directed by Rensil D’Silva is also being planned for a release. It will be for the first time that any of Salman’s film will clash with old foe Vivek Oberoi’s. While, Salman written Veer is a much bigger project, said to be having 100 crore budget, Vivek’s film can prove tough competition to Veer because of its topical subject and coming together of Karan Johar and UTV’s smart marketing strategies. It is learnt to have a plot line quiet similar to that of 1999 released Hollywood thriller, Arlington Road. In the film, Saif and Kareena play a Muslim couple who are terrorists living a double life. Vivek is the second lead in the film and he is also a terrorist. Minissha Lamba plays a journalist who is his love interest. Om Puri also has an important role in the film. Irrfan was approached to play the role of a terrorist in the film but he turned it down.

One can recollect, in April 2003, Vivek Oberoi had held a press conference at his house complaining about Salman Khan harassing him over phone and giving him life threats for his then relationship with Aishwarya Rai. Salman had that time not reacted to the negative publicity he got from this episode but it is learnt that he made sure that Vivek was almost ostracized by most industrywalas. After his break up with Aish, Vivek has on many occasions attempted brokering peace with Salman, but the controversial Khan has always chose to ignore him and hinted that he will never forgive him. -Sampurn Media

An old company
Oi oi oi.. Look who’s bonding big these days? Believe it or faint.. Ram Gopal Varma and Vivek Oberoi have become real chummy again. Seems guru-chela have patched up their differences. Badhai ho or not?

A jasoos from Varma’s film factory tells me that Vivs dropped in at his mentor’s office earlier this week, to say hi.. but ended up spending almost four hours chatting with Ramuji.

The two had had differences during the making of Darna Mana Hai.. following which a miffed RGV had sworn never
to work with his protégé again.

But the recent meeting only confirms that there are no permanent friends and foes in apni movie nagariya.

Needless to say, Vivs was doing most of the baat-chit, regaling the mentor with gupshup. RGV listened on, amused and entertained.

If they announce a movie together later this year, don’t be surprised. ’Coz you read it here first.

Is Vivek Oberoi dating Vidya Balan?
Story By: Businessofcinema.com
Team updated on: 08/04/09

MUMBAI: Now this is straight from the gossip mills. Vidya Balan met Vivek Oberoi at a common friend’s house and the two hit it off so well, that now, Balan and Oberoi are dating each other. The dosti is so deep that Balan has become a frequent visitor to the Oberoi household.

A friend of the actress said, “It was at designer Shabina Khan’s house that the couple met. Shabina is a close friend of Vidya and is her chosen designer. And so is Vivek a buddy of Shabina. And when the two met, sparks started flying. Then the two began meeting at Film City as they were shooting on floors close to each other. But it is too early to comment on their relationship.”

And the person who is heaving a sigh of relief at this news is Bipasha Basu. Bips was not at all comfortable with the idea of beau John Abraham working with Balan in Chenab Gandhi after the duo got too close during the making of Salaam-e-Ishq. But Abraham, according to a close friend of the couple did not want to lose out on a film that was being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. A lot of tension was in the air, till this new romance developed between Oberoi and Balan.

So, are we going to see this couple sign a couple of films together to keep the romance alive? Like Deepika and Ranbir, Kareena and Saif and many other couples, perhaps spending time together on and off the sets can see this pair make their move towards the altar…

Mumbai: It seems that Vivek Oberoi's lady luck continues to shine. If the latest buzz in town is to be believed, Vivek is dating none other than Vidya Balan. Both the actors met at designer Shabina Khan's place and hit it off from the moment go. It was more of a friendship initially, however with time it seems to be developing into something more.
Vidya Balan (r) and Vivek Oberoi

Says a close friend of Vivek, "The first time they met, Vivek was cracking a lot of jokes and Vidya was laughing a lot. The bonding was quite immediate and they exchanged numbers too. With time, it has become such that Vivek mentions Vidya multiple times in any conversation."

The friend further adds, "Recently, Vivek was shooting at Film City and was happy to discover that Vidya was shooting there too for another film. They met frequently whenever they were not shooting. And whenever they were busy shooting, they kept in touch through SMSes."

Apparently, the relationship is growing so fast that "Vivek is keen on taking Vidya to his house and introducing her to his parents. Going by Vivek's word, they are going great guns. We just have to wait and watch to understand whether it's another limited edition love story or a timeless one," the friend quips.

Both Vivek and Vidya remained unavailable for comment.

Vidya Balan joins Nanhi Kali
Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 10:16 [IST]
By: Upala KBR, Mid-Day

Vidya Balan is the brand ambassador of NGO Nanhi Kali, which propagates education for the girl child. She will soon be funding the education of some children from the NGO. Says a source close to Vidya, "Vidya had been associated with an NGO ever since she started working but a few months ago she decided to withdraw her support against that and join Nanhi Kali. She had sponsored a girl child from the earlier NGO.

Now she's planning to support the education of other girl children in Nanhi Kali. The education of the girl child is something she feels deeply for. Today, Vidya is attending an event where there's been a tie-up with an animation channel and Nanhi Kali and the proceeds of the event will go to the NGO."

Vidya Balan says, "I am completely for the education of the underprivileged girl child. I strongly believe in education. It's a basic necessity and only when you are educated that you can make an informed choice about everything. I became associated with Nanhi Kali through a company that supports the NGO. I Wanted to be sure that the work done is genuine and Nanhi Kali is one such organisation. I have been to their office and joined it recently. They financially support girl children all over India."

Apparently, she's sponsoring the education of some girl children? "Though I am not comfortable talking about it but yes I do plan to finance the education of a few girls. It's amazing how many girl children can get educated for a measly sum of money. It's a small thing to do especially when I have been given so much."

Reacting to rumours about her affair with Vivek Oberoi, vidya balan says, "I have met Vivek precisely one and a half times in my life. The story linking me with him is ridiculous and unbelievable. I would like to know who is the source whose has been quoted in the story. With such a fertile imagination she has a glorious imagination as a storyteller or screenwriter. I think I have become the easiest target for link-ups now."

Vidya rejects romance rumour with Vivek
18 Apr 2009, 0000 hrs IST, HARSHADA REGE

Poor Vivek Oberoi, he’s being dumped this time in print... and by Vidya Balan of all co-stars.
The actor, who’s not had a film since the disastrous Mission Istanbul last year, has been getting a lot of press lately because of an alleged link-up with the Kismet Konnection actress.

But Vidya, who’s been linked to almost every actor that she has worked with from Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham to Shahid Kapoor, is not having any of this. She’s not even working with Vivek, so Vidya’s anxious to nip the romance rumour in the bud. Rather tersely, the actress whose own fortunes are seeming to be on the uprise told BT that there was no question about her falling for Vivek and finally finding true love. “I have met Vivek some one-and-a-half times only,” said Vidya. Which, in Bollywood, is half times too many for people to fall in love or get hooked onto each other. But Vidya is not buying...

Vidya Balan Hooks Up with Vivek Oberoi?

What is with Bollywood star Vidya Balan and the press's constant need to hook her up with her leading men? There was Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, and most recently Shahid Kapoor with whom she starred in 'Kismat Konnection' with. Now the latest dude Ms Balan is supposedly going out with is none other than Vivek Oberoi!

Before you get excited (or disappointed depending on how you feel about Vivek and Vidya) it seems Vidya Balan is vehemently denying the rumors of romance between her and Vivek Oberoi. Seems like she's in no mood to have blogs and gossip followers speculating about her love life, and as before is shooting down rumors about her personal life.

When asked about the alleged link up recently Vidya Balan had this to say,I have met Vivek some one and a half times only. Hmmm... it's kind of crazy how these rumors get started out of no where.

But while Vidya is going all out denying the rumors and gossip, it seems Vivek is enjoying the media attention. It's no secret Vivek Oberoi has been out of the spotlight for some time and his career has been waning as a result of this.So apparently Vivek has been loving the undue attention!

So what do you guys think of the gossip about Vidya and Vivek supposedly being together? Do you think they really should hook up? If not who do you think makes the best match for Vidya Balan? Drop us a comment with your thoughts!

'Tansen' to be one of the costliest Hindi films ever made

Call it rumours or hear-say but the word is that the shooting for film “Tansen” will begin next month and it will star Abhishek, Aishwarya, Anil Kapoor and even Vivek Oberoi.

The film is set to be shot in Bangkok first and then would also be shot on other international locations in Australia and New Zealand.

The historical epic is going to be a mega project and will be one of the costliest films ever made in Bollywood.

The film is based on the life of Mughal court singer Tansen and has Abhishek as the lead character. It is directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Rajshri and even Sony is supposed to have put money in it.

Apart from this Barjatya project, Abhishek is working alongside wife Aishwarya in Mani Ratnam’s much-hyped “Ravana”. It is also rumoured that he and Ash have been cast in a remake of the Amitabh-Jaya starrer “Abhimaan”.

Vivek perfect choice for RGV’s Rakta Charitra

By Stacey Yount - BollySpice.com
1 May 2009

One of Bollywood’s most talented actors Vivek Oberoi is certainly on a roll with two films currently in the pipeline. First up is Prince directed by Kookie Gulatia and produced by Kumar S Taurani, who said about working with Vivek that he is “extremely talented and dedicated to his craft”. Then in production now is the Karan Johar Production directed by Rensil D’Silva co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Now, the gorgeous star has signed a new project with master director Ram Gopal Varma, who gave Vivek his big break in Company. Vivek will again take on an intense avatar to portray Paritala Ravi in the dramatic film Rakta Charitra.

The acclaimed director told Joginder Tuteja that he feels that Vivek is ideal to portray this role, “After thinking hard on every actor both known and unknown, I have finally zeroed in on Vivek Oberoi as the most ideal choice to play Paritala Ravi. He has remarkable intensity in his eyes which I noticed in the making of Company, a voice which commands attention, an arrogance in his demeanour, an enormous power in his stance, and also a certain vulnerability which makes one instantly warm up to him, which is what is needed to fit in a role of Paritala Ravi's profile.” Adding that he feels this will be a “defining film for both of us”.

The film, which will be released in two parts in 2010, tells the story of Paritala Ravi who Varma explained was, "Arguably the most feared individual ever in the history of the blood-ridden faction politics of South India. He was a prime accused in innumerable murder cases and also survived numerous assassination attempts, the most brutal of which happened on a quiet Friday afternoon in November 1997 when a road near Rama Naidu Studio in Hyderabad was turned into a death field by a bomb which killed 26 people but failed to get its intended target Ravi." Adding, “Ravi's name sent shivers up the spines of not only his rivals but even the law enforcement agencies. He was a rebel, a feudal lord, a robin hood, a killer of hundreds and saviour of thousands till the day he was gunned down by a death squad allegedly put together by his arch rival Suri who wanted to avenge his father's and brother's deaths, in a bizarre déjà vu."

Vivek will be playing Ravi over a span of 15 years and will have many different looks in the film and Varma says that he saw in a rough test Vivek’s ability to totally become the character and that is one of the reasons he knew that he had found his perfect leading man. “After this test was done, I saw the approximation of how Vivek could look like in different phases of Ravi's life. From being a rebel in the jungles to a political strong-arm man, he was just so perfect. There and then, I was absolutely convinced and my search ended.”

Prashant Pandey, writer for the project told Devansh Patel about the film and casting, “Rakta Charitra isn't a biopic but a bio-epic. Casting for such a film requires a certain method and artifice where an actor goes through a metamorphosis to look the part. Vivek's casting is a part of the larger design that RGV has in mind for the film. It's a character who goes through the most mind boggling inner transformation. I, as an audience and as a writer want to see that."

Adding, “RGV has an incredible mastery over manipulating and redesigning reality, hence he can best highlight Paritala Ravi's glorious life with the help of Vivek's presence and application. I think in a film like this, you need someone who can stop acting and start living."

Rakta Charitra, which Varma says will be a “defining film for both of us”, goes to floor in August and will be shot in one schedule. "I decided to film this story at one stretch and release it in 2 parts about 3 months from each other, a first of its kind ever attempted in the history of Indian cinema. I want to call the films Rakta Charitra - I and Rakta Charitra - II. Why I want to make it in two parts is because the sheer drama and content the story possesses is so incredibly rich and of such high magnitude that it is not possible to do justice to do it in a film which is lesser than 5 hours. Also, Ravi's life can be broadly divided into 2 parts from the time how circumstances created his rise to how he created circumstances that felled him.

"I believe that Rakta Charitra is going to be the most defining film of my career not because of how well I will make it, but sheerly because of the material I have at my hand. To put it simply, I don't have to work hard to make it well, but I have to work hard to spoil it."

We will keep you up to date on all the news about this exciting film so watch this space for more!

Satish rubbishes Aishwarya-Vivek pairing rumours for ‘Tansen’

Spicezee Bureau

Mumbai, May 01: Just when the gossipmongers were making merry and cheering to see ex flames Vivek and Aishwarya with hubby Abhishek in tow in ‘Tansen’, director
Satish Kaushik played a spoilsport. Quashing all juicy rumours and unsavory reports of the controversial threesome coming together, the taskmaster has cleared the air stating loud and clear that Vivek Oberoi was never on his mind.

Ever since a news daily reported that Kaushik has convinced the supreme Bachchan duo to work alongside Vivek, buzz of a reported reconciliation started to make rounds.

However, with Kaushik refuting all such reports as mere speculations, it seems that it’s going to take much more than just baseless reports for the contentious threesome to come together.

Rubbishing all such reports, the director told a news daily, “I’ve been getting so many calls from people asking me whether I have cast Vivek Oberoi in ‘Tansen’ along with Abhishek and Aishwarya and the answer is that no such thing has happened. I’ve not approached Vivek, Salman Khan for the film”.

Going in flashback, the Vivek-Aishwarya love saga followed by an unceremonious break up of this misfit couple made huge waves in the past. After making some dire enemies in filmdom and washing dirty laundry about the present Mrs Bachchan in public, the Oberoi lad made several unabashed attempts to win Bachchans’ sympathy

But to his distress, his desperate patch up attempts went in vain and proved futile after his loud forgiveness cries were given a cold snub by the mighty Bachchans.

Nevertheless, with the recent gossip of the celebrated couple Aishwarya and Abhishek coming together with Vivek running wild in B-town, fans sure were looking forward to some fireworks.

However, with Kaushik extinguishing the rumour sparks, the fireworks are now out of question.

‘Vivek Oberoi is extremely talented and dedicated’

IndiaFM | Tuesday, 28 April , 2009, 11:13

The Tauranis have made several big-budget films over the years—the most recent being the blockbuster, Race. And now Kumar Taurani has another thriller up for release, Prince.

"One should speak only when the time is appropriate,” says Kumar Taurani. “It's no point talking when your film is in the rough stages. Now that Prince is almost complete, it's time to do the talking."

Prince is a big-budget film starring Vivek Oberoi. Shot entirely in South Africa, it is a stylish entertainer that co-stars three new leading ladies. Kookie Gulati, who has directed a plethora of music videos for Tips, is directing the film. "Kookie came up with a riveting story, which I liked instantly. He had planned everything on storyboard and I could actually visualise the film even before we started filming," he says.

The grapevine is also abuzz with the news that Taurani has spent a fortune on the film. But is the project viable, considering Vivek isn't going through the best phase professionally?

"There's no denying that I have spent a packet. As for the project being viable or not, I wish to add that we have always made films with actors who suit the roles,” says Taurani. “In fact, right from Soldier [Bobby] to Race [Saif], the actors weren't going through the best phase till these films happened. I hope Prince will change all that for Vivek, who is extremely talented and dedicated to his craft."

Taurani also refutes talk that the brothers have parted ways professionally. "That's a misconception. Ramesh is making his films and I am making mine. It's just that we've divided our work," he says.

I did miss working with RGV: Vivek

Shooting for Jihaad in New York, Vivek Oberoi fields questions on his ‘relaunch’, how he missed working with ‘the master’ and whether Minissha Vivek Oberoi
Lamba refused to shoot intimate scenes with him for the film!

Despite stellar performances in Company and Road, why did you drift away from RGV? Do you regret not working with him for so long?
I don’t believe in wasting precious time analyzing the past, while the present is knocking on my door. But I will say that I did miss working with the master. I look forward to this new journey and to being wet clay again.

RGV has said, ‘Rakta Charitra is a film which will relaunch Vivek as well as me.’ Do you think your career needs to be relaunched?
I have never seen Ramuji as excited about a film as he is about Rakta Charitra. His passion is contagious. Most times, actors make characters, but sometimes, a character can make an actor too. Paritala Ravi is one such rare opportunity. If there ever had to be a relaunch for us, it couldn’t get better than this.

What do you think went wrong in between?
I had forgotten why I had come here — to be an actor. Just that. Not for all the trappings of stardom but just the pure fire of my burning desire to act.

What helped you bag the role of Paritala Ravi? What’s the most difficult bit about portraying this character?
I think that question would be best answered by the enigmatic Ramuji himself! I consider myself fortunate that he picked me to play a character he is so passionate about. Journalists often asked me what my ‘dream role’ would be, and, until I encountered Paritala Ravi, I always dismissed the idea, thinking such a thing never existed. He is, by far, the most intriguing and fascinating character that I’ve played. I have never felt as excited and challenged about a character. The look test was just a manifestation of that excitement and I’m glad Ramuji loved it.

What is it like, shooting in Obama’s America for Jihaad?
Obama’s America is an interesting dichotomy of expectation and disillusionment. Sometimes, hope can be a dangerous thing. Jihaad is turning out extremely well, and I am happy that my director and producer have liked my portrayal. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Recently, there was an article claiming that Minissha Lamba walked out of Jihaad because she didn’t want to shoot intimate scenes with you. Do you have intimate scenes in the film, or is this just a figment of the imagination?
The article was a figment of imagination, which I now view as entertainment. So, I sit back, read and get entertained! Minissha was sweet enough to personally clarify the issue to me over phone. We had a good laugh and I look forward to working with her in the future.

There were rumours of your father contesting the polls from Assam this year. Did he discuss it with you? Do you harbour any ambitions of testing the poll waters?
I am not politically inclined and therefore, our discussions on these matters are not particularly detailed. I am aware of a few political parties trying to persuade him. But he has more spiritual pursuits on his immediate agenda. As for me, I am not a part of Rajneeti — neither the film nor the national pastime! Prakash Jha was kind enough to offer me a part, but I was committed to Prince and Jihaad during the same time and therefore, had to respectfully decline. Prince is a high-adrenaline thriller, where my look is glamorous. Directed by Kookie Gulati, the film offers some breathtaking action sequences. It has an edge-of-the-seat storyline.

Finally, are you enjoying your single status?
To the hilt!

Jihaad' has no intimate scenes: Minissha

Minissha Lamba clarifies that her missing out on 'Jihaad' is no kiss-and-tell issue

Though much has been written about Minissha Lamba refusing to shoot ‘intimate scenes’ with Vivek Oberoi for Rensil D’Silva’s Jihaad, the truth seems to be far from this. Talking to CT from New York, D’Silva said, “I don’t know who has been circulating such rumours. There are no intimate scenes in my film. Mine is a serious film and such rumours are distracting.”

The real reason for Minissha opting out of the film is her passport. “The pages on my passport had been used up and I had sent it for renewal. It took so long, that there wasn’t much time for me to leave for New York to shoot. Jihaad has no intimate scenes to begin with. I would never back out of a film at the last moment,” she said, adding, “Everyone has been working so hard for the film and such rumours are totally uncalled for.”

Dia Mirza has now stepped in to play Minissha’s part.

Vivek Oberoi has a winner on hands with Prince
May 4th, 2009 - 11:21 pm EST By Sindh Today | Category: Entertainment, UnCat

All those lucky few who have managed to see the show reel of TIPS Film’s upcoming next, Prince starring Vivek Oberoi in the lead simply cannot stop talking about it. The buzz is strong in industry circles that Vivek has got a surefire winner on hands to make a great comeback. Not only is he looking completely different but his action sequences that have been amazingly put together by Allan Amin will leave a huge impact on the action loving audiences.*

Reveals our source who managed to watch the show reel, “Vivek has performed some dare devil stunts himself that include jumping off a running plane. Most of the film has been shot in the picturesque South Africa as the film is set in Durban and is supposed to be revolving around the search for a rare gold coin. While Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ Jehaad starring Vivek may come in at end of November 2009, Prince will arrive much before that and catapult Vivek back to stardom for sure.” -Sampurn Media.

Kareena-Saif enjoy NY break, courtesy Vivek!
6 May 2009, 1859 hrs IST, SUBHASH K JHA

Vivek Oberoi is suddenly back in business,

Whether it’s for a film that he is doing with Ram Gopal Varma or for a film that he isn’t doing with Satish Kaushik (featuring Abhishek Bachchan)... Oberoi seems to be in the news constantly.

Currently in New York shooting for Rensil d’Silva’s untitled film (not called Jehad) Vivek has endeared himself to the film’s other principal leads Saif and Kareena, and not just because they share camera space so comfortably, but because he was directly instrumental in getting them an impromptu holiday in New York, ahead of the holiday that they have planned after the schedule in New York.
It so happened that Vivek had plenty of solo scenes which apparently Oberoi suggested to the director be shot all in a bunch so that Saif and Kareena could take time off.

Resultantly Saif and Kareena ended up with two full empty days in New York.

Laughs Kareena from New York, “Yeah, Saif and I got a two-day break in the middle of our hectic schedule because Vivek’s scenes are being shot. Saif and I just chilled out, saw some films, ate at our favourite restaurant. It was an unexpected treat. Thanks to Vivek.”

Kareena seems to be renewing her friendship with Vivek. “If you remember we did one of my best films Yuva together. He was very sweet and considerate then. I find no change in him. Yes, Vivek and I friends.”

It looks like Vivek’s fence-mending tactics are paying dividends.

Finally you and Ramu are back together?

Yes. I am more than glad that we are working together on Rakta Charitra, which has an amazing script, an awe inspiring character, Paritala Ravi and a brilliant director at the helm. What more could an actor ask for?

• What brought about the patch-up? Apparently you just walked into RGV’s office one fine day…

In my limited experience of life, I have learnt that mostly what is apparent never transpired and what transpired is never really apparent.

• Was the first meeting awkward?

No. Strangely it was comfortable and familiarly warm.

• Do you think you missed out on some good work because of your dispute with Ramu?

I don’t believe in wasting time analysing the past when the present is knocking at my door. But I did miss working with the master. I look forward to this new journey. I look forward to being wet clay again.

• How are you preparing for the role of Ravi?

By completely surrendering myself to two people - Ramuji and Paritala Ravi.

• How different is this don Ravi from Chhota Rajan of Company or Maya Dolas of Shootout At Lokhandwala?

To see Ravi merely as a don would be insulting to the magnitude of impact he has had upon the people of Andhra Pradesh. Journalists have often asked me what my dream role would be and I used to always dismiss the idea, thinking it didn’t exist, until I was required to play Paritala Ravi. He is, by far, the most intriguing and fascinating character.

• Was working in Mission Istanbul a mistake?

Doing Mission Istanbul was definitely not a mistake but maybe we made some mistakes while making it, which is why the film didn’t do well.

• What is your equation with Abhishek Bachchan?

Art is for actors, equations are for algebra and I am not a calculating kind of guy. It should suffice to say that we are colleagues.

• Your repeated attempts to patch-up with Salman Khan have failed. If you meet him in public again, will you acknowledge him?

I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

• It seems that Salman has categorically told Katrina Kaif that you are the only guy she can’t work with....

I guess we all make choices in life and then have to live with them.

• Apparently Minissha Lamba has refused to do intimate scenes with you for Jehaad.

The article was a figment of imagination that I now view as entertainment. So I sit back, read and get entertained. Minissha was sweet enough to personally clarify over the phone and we had a good laugh about it.

• You and Dia Mirza also had some problems. Have you sorted it out?

I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to have problems with Dia; she’s a lovely person. She’s a sunshine girl.

• Of late you are being linked to a bevy of beauties - Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandes, Vidya Balan and even one of your family friends…

So I hear. Apparently, I am quite the candidate for imaginary link-ups. I am flattered by most of my rumoured link-ups and have wished that at least some of them were true, but unfortunately, no such luck.

• Why are you still single?

I am single because I am still waiting to find the girl who will make me want to never be single again.

• There have been reports of a special friendship brewing between you and Anoushka Shankar.

Yes. We’ve grown to become good friends. She’s a wonderful artiste and an even more wonderful human being. She has performed to raise funds for ‘The Banyan’, a charitable cause that I have been the ambassador of.

While all eyes are set on Vivek Oberoi and his RAKTA CHARITRA, somehow focus has shifted from his action thriller PRINCE which is in its post production and almost nearing completion.

A TIPS film which was launched around a year back and is being directed by music video director turned feature film maker Kookie Gulati, PRINCE features Vivek Oberoi in a central role along with Nandana Sen who is the female lead in the film.

''Working on PRINCE has been a fantastic experience'', exclaims Vivek Oberoi, ''It's a story that could be every man's fantasy and every man's nightmare. It is a thrilling and fascinating tale full of twists.''

CHECK OUT : I am thrilled with positive reaction to RAKTA CHARITRA

Sounds like an interesting project indeed. So what can one expect from PRINCE which was earlier titled PRINCE OF THIEVES?

''Well to summarise in short, PRINCE is a film that boasts of some great thrills, great action and great fun! I guess that should be enough for me to comment as of now'', smiles Vivek who also has QURBAAN (tentatively titled) with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor coming next.

Also starring Sanjay Kapoor in the role of a cop along with Rajesh Khattar and Dalip Tahil, PRINCE has music by Sachin Gupta with action by Allan Amin.

Saif-Vivek, almost handcuffed!
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, May 30, 2009]

The location was New York and shooting was going on in full swing. The film is Rensil D’Silva’s ‘Qurbaan’ that sees Saif Ali Khan, beau kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi in the lead. The ‘Qurbaan’ team was shooting a car chase scene in a hilly area will trouble took shape of a cop.

Reports indicate that Saif was driving in full throttle with Vivek in tow. Despite numerous takes things were not coming as expected and the director was asking for a once more. The locals of the place who became irate seeing two guys breaking traffic rules promptly called the troopers.

The cops who immediately materialized before the Bollywood stars asked them to step out to carry out the usual procedure for breaking speed limit rules. The Bollywood stars’ repeated requests regarding their identity fell on deaf ears. Just as the Bollywood duo was about to be handcuffed the production team arrived and produced the relevant documents confirming the statement of the actors.

Only then were the actors released but not before their documents were promptly and thoroughly scanned by the cops. ‘Qurbaan’ sees Saif playing a Muslim activist and Kareena Kapoor as his wife.

Bebo lectures Vivek
By Roshni Mulchandani - BollySpice.com
19 May 2009

Vivek Oberoi and Kareena Kapoor have not only worked together but are in fact good friends too. So much so that the actress has been taking a keen interest in her friend’s love life. More recently, Oberoi has been linked to Anoushka Shankar but has simply used the clichéd answer to explain their closeness: “We are just friends.” Anyhow, while shooting for Rensil D’Silva’s Qurbaan, previously known as Jehaad, it seems that Bebo is constantly pestering Vivek to “find a nice girl and settle down.” Vivek’s love life has always been one that has been scrutinized by the media—be it with ex-fiance Gurpreet Gill or with Aishwarya Rai. However, the actor clearly claims that he is now officially single.

“Every time we go out for dinner, she would shake her head and tell me - 'find a nice girl and settle down' and I would hide behind Saif to dodge the bullet. We had some great laughs,” he said to a leading publication. However, he has his reasons for staying single and not joining the bandwagon, “I'm single because I am waiting to find the girl who will make me want to never be single again.”

After arriving with a bang in 2002 with Company, Vivek’s career has seen major highs and lows. He was adored in Saathiyaa and once again pulled out a riveting performance in Shootout At Lokhandwala , but since then has not been able to do much at the box office. With no remorse or regret, the actor simply stated, “When I retire, I will have enough time to sit back in a rocking chair and judge my career…What went wrong in between was that I had forgotten why I came here...to be an actor...just that...Not all the trappings of stardom but just the pure fire of burning desire to act,” he honestly admitted.

In the meantime, the actor has a full kitty with Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra and Kookie Gulati’s Prince as well as Rensil D’Silva’s Qurbaan.

Vivek says it only took him 7 seconds to yes to playing Ravi in RGV’s film and said, "I can't begin to express how excited I am about transforming into Ravi. At most times actors make characters but sometimes a character can make an actor. Paritala Ravi is one such rare opportunity."

The lovebirds split on an ugly note, which cost Vivek his career and some friends in Bollywood, have reunited. As per reports, the two met and instead of walking past rudely talked for ten minutes! Now, Ash and Vivek are friends!

Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi were in a relationship, before Aishwarya met Bachchan scion Abhishek Bachchan.

Vivek skips IIFA for friend's wedding
Friday, June 12, 2009, 10:18 [IST]

Vivek Oberoi will be one more in a long list of celebs giving an IIFA Awards event a miss. A source close to Vivek explains why he is not heading to the event, "The organisers really wanted him to attend the awards function this year and perform but he chose his friends' wedding. Vivek leaves for Istanbul tomorrow for close friends Kurt and Ceyda's wedding. He has been friends with the couple for years; since his New York days."

Kurt and Ceyda's wedding will be a traditional Turkish one. The friend informs, "After the wedding, Vivek will go on a 20-day holiday to Europe as he's been working round the clock for the last one year. He will catch up with more friends and leave for Bodrum. From Bodrum, Vivek will go to Athens (Greece) to visit his friends there."

Vivek Oberoi says, "I am really excited to meet all my friends and be a part of such a Special [^] day. I'm going to be witnessing a traditional Turkish wedding for the first time, and being a die-hard romantic, I am really looking forward to it. Bodrum is like the Goa of Turkey, one of the most chilled places on earth, white sandy beaches overlooking the turquoise waters of the Aegean. The Greek islands are steeped in history and romance, two of my favorite things."

Vivek has some great films coming up this year which include Rensil D' Silva's Qurbaan, Kumar Taurani's Prince and Rakta Charitra, and wants to keep away from all controversies. He doesn't want his absence to imply any animosity towards the Bachchans. Says a source, "Last year, Vivek had been invited by Abhishek and Ash for the party they held in their room after the same awards event but he stayed away. Later that year, he went to pay his respects at Amitabh mother Teji Bachchan's funeral. He wants to maintain cordial relations with the Bachchans."

The source adds, "Vivek is hurt with reports that he was trying to get friendly with Abhishek Bachchan [^] and his wife Aishwarya at Karan Johar's birthday bash. In fact, VO was standing and chatting with Imran Khan [^] and Ranbir Kapoor [^] when Abhishek walked upto them and started talking about Vivek's films. He also told him that he was happy with the way Vivek's career was shaping up. While Junior B chatted away, his wife was standing beside him. And the ex-lovers greeted each other politely, that was all."

Vivek Oberoi's Prince of Thieves is now Prince It's Showtime
By Joginder Tuteja, June 27, 2009 - 17:09 IST

Though Vivek Oberoi has been in news for his 'comeback film' with Ram Gopal Varma, Rakta Charitra, there is another film of his that would be arrive first later this year. After oscillating between Prince of Thieves and simply Prince, the film's title has now been fixed as Prince It's Showtime. There is a relevance to the 'show-time' part, something that director Kookie Gulati reveals as he speaks about the title change.

"Actually, it's not a change in title per se because there was no title fixed in the first place. Prince of Thieves was just a working title and we were always contemplating getting something different as we come closer to the release", says the debutant film maker who has directed quite a few popular music videos in the past.

He confirms though that Prince It's Showtime is the final title of the film.

"Yeah, Prince It's Showtime is final and soon you would see the title being more prominent as we officially break the campaign", Kookie comments, "The phrase 'It's Showtime' is quite relevant to the film as well since this is the line that Prince (Vivek Oberoi) uses throughout the film. It fits in perfectly well with the character and this is why we thought of adding it to the film's title as well in order to set expectations with the audiences."

''Working on Prince It's Showtime has been a fantastic experience'', exclaims Vivek Oberoi, ''It's a story that could be every man's fantasy and every man's nightmare. It is a thrilling and fascinating tale full of twists.'

Also starring Sanjay Kapoor in the role of a cop along with Rajesh Khattar and Dalip Tahil, PRINCE has music by Sachin Gupta with action by Allan Amin

Vivek Oberoi Produced by Kumar Taurani's Tips Music Films, Prince It's Showtime is an action thriller that sees Vivek Oberoi in a new avtar. From his long haired look in his last release Mission Istanbul, Vivek has moved on to a neat, close cropped look for Prince It's Showtime. The film has been extensively shot in South Africa, Bangkok and of course various locations in India.

With Nandana Sen along with debutant British actress Aruna Shields as the leading ladies, Prince It's Showtime is said to be revolving around the search for a rare gold coin. Apparently, Vivek has performed some dare devilry stunts in the film, one of which required him to be jumping off a plane.

"The film boasts of some great thrills, great action and great fun! I guess that should be enough for me to comment as of now as its scheduled for release on 11th December 2009'', smiles Vivek who also has Qurbaan (earlier titled Jehaad) with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor coming soon.

Stunt Mania is a fun, racy show where contestants prove themselves through a series of motorbike stunts. VO loves bikes; this made him a perfect fit for the show. The actor has a surprise appearance and a special role to perform on the show. As Prince is a high-adrenaline action thriller, producer Kumar Taurani thought that the connect would be great."

It is believed that Vivek's entry on the show is with a stunning act performed on a bike, and he will wear a specially designed helmet, used by stuntmen. Vivek says, "I don't have a bike anymore though I used to have one. I love the heavy bikes like the Suzuki Boulevard which was the one I used to have. But my all time favorite is the Rune — it's the ultimate machine — like a piece of art. Now I am waiting to buy a new one next but I can't make up my mind as to what to buy."

Vivek is extremely excited about Prince and the show. He says, "Prince is a joyride filled with adrenaline-pumping stunts and a fantastic edge-of-the-seat thriller. It's a perfect combination of thrill through story and high-end action stunts." Apart from Prince, Vivek's next releases are Karan Johar's Qurbaan and Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra.
