Two blasts rock Jama Masjid in Old Delhi

Two blasts took place inside the Jama Masjid complex on Friday evening, injuring at least three people, police sources said.

Five fire tenders, ambulances and police squads have rushed to the spot.

The first explosion took place at around 5.30 pm when devotees were preparing for 'Asar' (evening) prayer near a pond used by them for ablutions.

Fifteen minutes later, another blast rocked the place, eye witnesses said.

Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, told a private televion channel that about 800-1000 people were present in the complex when the blasts went off. He also claimed that the exploives were kept in a plastic bag.

The injured have been admitted to the Lok Narayan Jaiprakash Hospital.
