The long doomed (and seemingly still so) Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai is eventually making it to the big screen. Originally directed by Bunty Soorma, but taken over by Vikram Bhatt after his unfortunate demise, the romantic film which seems like a throwback to the eighties with themes familiar to films back then, is looking to be one of the many big films of the New Year, 2006.
Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai features Amisha Patel in the lead role as Durga. Durga is a blind girl who has a special gift that she learned from her father, though being blind she can mold statues perfectly. Naturally people quickly become infatuated with her and her talent, including Rohit (Arjun Rampal). Trouble ensues when someone tries to rape Durga, but Rohit is there to save her. Rohit falls in love with her and decides that he can help her to get her vision back. Rohit decides to take her to get a surgery done.
However, Rohit, and Rana (Parmeet Sethi) who threatens Rohit after the failed rape attempt, meet with a sad fate before Durga can have her surgery. A devastated Durga attempts suicide but is rescued and then goes to Switzerland to start life anew. There she lives a recluse life, but can not be devoid of people seeking her attention. There she meets Raj (Bobby Deol) who quickly becomes interested in her and promises her the world. As a hesitant Durga gets closer to Raj to the point of marriage, they are all in for the surprise of their life.
