There is a news flash in the media today exposing taped conversations between Salman & Ash allegedly recorded by the police.

in these tapes salman has openly & repeatedly threatened Ash & her family with dire consequences if she refuses to perform in shows orgainsed by gangster Abu Salem(currently incarcerated in Belgium)

It is also claimed that salman has admitted to having close relations with other criminal gangsters like Dawood & shakeel & also confessed to having prior detailed information abt the infamous Bombay Bomb Blasts.

It seems salman has repeatedly used extremely foul language angst Ash calling her a bitch & a whore & claiming that herself & her family will be tortured to death if she doesn’t comply with the underworld Demand s

The paradox here seems that these tapes were recorded four yrs ago sometime in 2001 & questions are being raised as to why the police failed to take any action on this evidence & whether these tapes are authentic at all.

A highlevel inquiry has been hastily initiated in response to this expose .

A conversation that apparently took place four years ago has come back to haunt Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

Excerpts of a taped phone conversation between Salman and Aishwarya Rai were printed in English daily Hindustan Times today.

In the conversation, Salman can be heard bragging about his close ties with underworld criminals like Dawood Ibrahim and Abu Salem to threaten Aishwarya.

"I am connected with underworld. I know Abu Salem and Chhota Shakeel. I know Chhota Rajan. They will shoot you if they hear you talking to me like this," said the voice on the tape.

Part of probe

The conversation was apparently tapped four years ago by the police as part of their investigations into the links between the film industry and the underworld.

Salman's lawyers, however, have dismissed the tapes claiming they are doctored.

"This is not the voice of Salman Khan. If you hear the tape, you can make out it's not Salman," said Dipesh Mehta, the actor's lawyer.

What's also not clear is why the police didn't act against Salman if they had these tapes four years ago.

"It is very difficult to comment at this stage. We have to investigate the matter further," said Dhananjay Kamlakar, officer, Crime Branch.

The phone tapping dates back to the investigation into the Salman Khan film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.

Storm stirred up

The police had tapped conversations between the financier of the film Bharat Shah and underworld don Chhota Shakeel. Salman was questioned at that time, but Shah and the film's producer were arrested.

More than the underworld links, what's stirred up a storm is the bit on the tape in which Salman is heard admitting that he knew about the Mumbai blasts.

"In the bomb blast, Sanjay Dutt wasn't involved. It was me. Sanjay had nothing to do with it. I had all the information about the blasts. I did what I had to do. Now I am getting calls from Salem," said the voice.

This provoked a strong reaction from the opposition for action against the actor.

"Why didn't the police carry out an enquiry even after they had the tape? How did they overlook the conversation in this tape," said BJP leader Gopinath Munde.

Meanwhile, both Salman and Aishwarya remained incommunicado throughout the day.

These telephone conversations between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were recorded between August 28-30, 2001. Ash was supposed to leave for a long tour of the US. Salman starts calling her on the eve of her departure.

The conversations start friendly enough, but rapidly degenerate into threats, boasts and abuse. Following are excerpts from the Salman Tapes:

The waves of shock and awe that originated in Mumbai on Thursday morning with HT’s publication of the Salman Tapes had washed over the nation by late afternoon, whipping up a frenzy in the corridors of politics, the bureaucracy and the media.

The Home Ministry in Delhi sought a report from the Mumbai Police on Salman Khan’s links with the underworld. “If investigations confirm that the voice is indeed Salman’s, he certainly should be questioned to ascertain whether he actually has links with the underworld,” a senior MHA official said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh announced an inquiry as opposition BJP-Shiv Sena members in the assembly wanted the day’s proceedings in the House adjourned to discuss the issue.

As several television channels picked up HT’s story, and images of Salman and bits of the conversation were aired through the day, discussions in offices and street corners centred on how closely the dark shadow of the mob continually falls over Bollywood.

Salman himself abandoned the shooting of a new film. He hurriedly packed up and left the sets of Jaaneman in Film City. He has remained out of reach since and his lawyer, Dipesh Mehta, spoke on his behalf.

The movie fraternity came out largely in support of the actor. But while many of them were curious about why an “old case had been raked up” (the conversations published by HT are from August 2001), not one of them confronted the real issue: the connection between the mob and the movies.

At one point, Salman Khan explodes with rage and accuses Aishwarya Rai of sleeping around. At another, he brags about his conquests. Sometimes he shouts, sometimes he hisses, but most of the time he’s profane.

HT on Thursday published transcripts of their conversation in which he disclosed his underworld links; today HT focuses on his relationship with Aishwarya. And seeing his extreme mood swings, you wonder: when he talks of the underworld, at what point is he boasting, and at what point is he serious?

Stories of Salman Khan’s violent relationships with women have been around for years. Film magazines have written about how he broke a bottle over former girlfriend Somy Ali’s head; speculated on how exactly Aishwarya could have injured her arm when the actress was in a relationship with him.

But for the first time — you only have to read the following transcript of his conversations with both these women — we have a real insight into the mind of a man who needs only the slightest provocation to behave in a manner that can be called — to put it politely — uncivilised.

Jealousy about other men in Aishwarya’s life leads him to use violent, abusive language and accuse her of promiscuity. He also boasts about the women he has slept with and of the power he has over them.

But there also seems to be another side to Salman Khan. In his conversation with Somy Ali, who was his girlfriend for many years and who he apparently continued to see off and on even after they split, there’s no profanity. He tells her that he knows she understands him.

Their conversation could easily be the kind of conversation any man would have with the woman he loved. In contrast, his conversations with Aishwarya exhibit a certain mad, possessive, jealousy-induced passion that manifests itself in abuse and accusation. But then, even Somy Ali was apparently subjected to physical abuse by him.

So, is Salman incapable of having ’normal’ relationships with women? Must they always teeter around violence and intimidation? If so — and that’s what the transcripts indicate — then that seems indicative of a troubled, disturbed mind. Perhaps Salman Khan really is Bollywood’s bad boy.

The biggest controversy surrounding this issue is that the tapes are four yrs old.
There are a couple reasons why the tapes did not surface for so long

1 ) the tapes are completely FAKE……. As it is the police authorities are not willing to admit that the have originally recorded these tapes
the timing is quite creepy……… the release of the tapes coincides with the launch of the HT newspaper & Sallus new movie

OR
2) The tapes while being authentic were recorded by the police without due authorization

( actually there is an entire process that needs to be fulfilled before phone tapping is authorized .. such as permission from the Telecom department , the home ministry & a senior judicial magistrate ) If the these conditions have not been fulfilled then the tapes even if real cannot be submitted as evidence or the basis to any inquiry


In any case the key to this matter lies with Ash , if she had felt threatened she would have easily filed a complaint as it is the police claim to have approached here earlier but she refused to do so. This would indicate that she did not take this issue seriously & was not threatened by Sallus tirade.

Also the audio recording indicates that the person ranting on is completely drunk as in he cannot even form basic sentences & he does not make much sense either

( actually Dawood , Abu salem , Rajan etc are sworn enemies of each other , one can claim to be friends with either one of them but certainly not all of them )

BTW ASH has announced a press conf which might throw more light on this issue

ntelligence agencies do not think Salman Khan is bragging about his underworld connections. They believe him. And wonder why the Mumbai Police did nothing about the many alerts sent to them about this.

One intelligence agency advised the Mumbai Police in 2002 to place Salman on their watch-list. The immediate provocation was the actor's presence at a party hosted by Dawood Ibrahim at his ranch in Dubai.

On the tapes of his conversation with Aishwarya Rai — first revealed by the Hindustan Times — Salman says he knows Dawood, Chhota Shakeel, Chhota Rajan and the entire gallery of Mumbai rogues.

In one conversation he tells Aishwarya, “Underworld people call me up here. I am their main man in Bombay”. Then, he says: “I know Abu Salem, Chhota Shakeel and I know Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan.” And then the big brag: “Do you know the

underworld is controlled by me?”

That’s a boast. Intelligence agencies believe the underworld controls him.

Going back to that Dubai bash, there are pictures of the actor with Noora, Dawood's younger brother who reportedly controls the D-Company's narcotics, film-financing and construction operations. Dawood was, of course, present at this party, and so was Chhota Shakeel.

It could not be confirmed whether the picture obtained by HT (and reproduced above) was sent to the Mumbai Police. But they were told that Salman did not only put in an appearance at the party but enjoyed Dawood's hospitality through his Dubai stay.

Some people in Congress (his own party) were jealous of his success and popularity and the opposition knew that they could never win that seat till Dutt Sahab was there. So, they setup Baba and falsely accused him of having something to do with the blasts. When this allegations came up, Dutt Sahab resigned from as the MP. Later Bal Thackery got Baba the bail on the condition that Dutt Sahab doesnt contest the elections. So, he didnt contest the elections twice and both times a Shiv Sena candidate was the winner there.
Then in 2002.. tapes were leaked out in the media that had Baba, Mahesh Manjrekhar, Sanjay Gupta and Harish Sugandh talking to Chhota Shakeel. The media misinterpreted everything that was in the tapes and later had to issue a formal apology for that.
Basically, every actor in Bollywood... from Amitabh to SRK has had some contacts with the underworld. Nobody can hide from them. And once you come in contact with these people, its impossible to break away. But this doesnt mean they have done something illegal.

1) FIRSTLY all the pictures and reports of people protesting , rioting out side of theaters & in streets is misleading …………………..
Fact ……an overwhelming majority of the these protesters (read 99 % ) are not fans or regular folks but ruffians & low level workers belonging to political parties such as BJP , Bajrang Dal & Shiv Sena. Their primary motivation is simply to grab headlines at sallus expense & create a false impression of themselves as diligent & responsible citizens.
In this they largely failed as is obvious form the fact that the protests have stopped & they failed to receive any support of the cine going audience.

2) The general consensus among the legal experts & prominent citizens is that either the sallus tapes are false , altered and in any case are inadmissible in court as proof.
A well-known journalist also pointed out the while the voice on tape is muffled & the person speaking incoherent there is also no continuity in conversation between both parties. And it Clearly appears that several different pieces of conversations have been mixed , edited to prepare this tape with a malicious & self serving interest

3) The entire film Industry with the exception of Ash has come forward in support of Khan including Sush & Diya against whom unsavory remarks have been made on tape
David dhawan piquantly pointed out in a press conf the hippocrasy & double standards of politicians by reminding everyone of the Infamous Telehka tapes & the BJP's desperate attempts to pull it under the rug.


4) The movie MPKK is getting good reviews & a majority of the metropolitan audience is unaffected by this scandal


Bottom line as long as the politicians stay out of this sallu is just fine from the legal point of view. This scandal has indeed effected sallu but the erosion in his huge fan base does not seem to be very significant

RJD to Salman's rescue

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal has come to the defence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

The RJD on Monday said Salman, whose alleged conversation with Aishwarya Rai four years ago where he brags about his underworld links was released recently, was being harassed and dubbed anti-national by vested interest just because he is a Muslim.

The RJD national spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari told rediff.com: "It is simple to dub a Muslim anti-national and accuse him of being hand in glove with the underworld to tarnish his image and defame him."

Tiwari said that the evidence against Salman is a four-year-old audiotape, the contents of which are more like a drunken person's empty boasts.

"Even if it is proved to be Salman's voice, he deserves to be punished, but certainly it is not a case of sedition," said Tiwari.

Tiwari said the large-scale protests engineered against Salman and his just-released Hindi film is a planned move to vitiate communal harmony.

Secondly, no one knows as yet whether the tapes are genuine. If they are, there could be a case for investigation. But the question is: No one is ready to disclose the source of these tapes presumably because they are illegally recorded.

No one can eavesdrop on a telephone line without first seeking five levels of clearance under both ITA and MCOCA. This does not appear to have been done in this case.

Bangaru Laxman was caught on camera receiving a cash bribe and the BJP, who are the ones pointing a finger at Salman today, insisted that the tapes were digitally doctored.

Laxman was then the BJP party chief. Serious evidence was published in this newspaper, and later tabled in parliament, accusing George Fernandes of making money from defence deals, including coffins bought to bring back dead soldiers from the Kargil border.

But the same BJP that today calls Salman an anti-national were the first to defend George and claim that the evidence was fake and motivated.

If Bangaru and George were not anti-national after stealing money that was supposed to spent on the nation’s defence, how can drunken boasts and silly threats exchanged between lovers become clinching evidence of anti-nationalism? The truth is: There is a curious coalition of business interests and politics behind this.


A new newspaper launching in Mumbai needed a sensational story on its front page. So it dug up this four-year-old recording and published it.

It was salacious; it was exciting. It had the potential to sell copies. If the recording was genuine (or, for that matter, legally done) surely the police (who are the only ones allowed to record private conversations) would have taken action against Salman years ago.

But they did not do it. Instead the story helped a newspaper launch. It was almost simultaneously picked up by a TV channel with a pronounced BJP slant and known for carrying salacious video clips.

Next coincidence: All this happened on the very day a film featuring Salman was being premiered in the theatres. Thus enabling the lynch mobs to immediately demand that the film be banned and Salman arrested. No, they did not demand an investigation.

That came later. No, they did not ask who taped these private... conversations and whether the appropriate sanctions were obtained, which would make them admissible as evidence in the courts. No, they did not even demand a check on their authenticity.

It was instant justice. In the kangaroo court of public opinion. The judge, the jury and the hangman was the same—the BJP and its cohorts.

Cheering on the sidelines was the media. In the age of MMS erotica and digital double takes, this is a dangerous trend. Remember the case of Anara Gupta, Miss Jammu?

She was picked up by the J&K police on mere suspicion that a porn video clip circulating on cell phones featured her. They publicly called her a *****, jailed her, hung her from a fan and beat her mercilessly for three days and nights demanding that she go before the TV cameras and confess that she was the person in the video. She refused.

Months later, after forensic investigations ordered by the court, it was proved that the clips were fake. But by that time her life was destroyed.

There are still over a hundred sites on the net featuring what they describe as the Anara Gupta tapes when everyone knows by now that she was totally innocent.

This is the power of the media and when it misused to sell copies or raise...
TRPs, common citizens get very seriously hurt. Our defamation laws are so weak and time consuming that there is virtually no way to stop the collateral damage.

And, as we all know, the political parties are waiting on the sidelines just for an opportunity like this to exploit. My concern is Salman has got the short end of the stick again not because he has committed any crime.

Talking nonsense to one’s girlfriend and making tall claims are not a crime. If it were, we would all be guilty. Just as getting caught in pictures shot with thugs is a professional hazard all movie stars and politicians live with. By no stretch of imagination does it suggest that the two people seen together are jointly involved in a criminal conspiracy.

Every day on the sets of movies people turn up from all over the world to be photographed with stars. Does it prove culpability?

Not at all. Stupidity perhaps. But certainly not culpability. Yes, Salman Khan may be stupid. Many of us are when we fall in love.

This does not mean we are criminals. Or worse, anti-nationals. Eavesdropping and keyhole journalism—and I dare say, some degree of digital doctoring—can make virtually anything look dangerous.

That is why the law does not accept such evidence unless it goes through several layers of permissions and procedures.

If the law can be wise, why not the media? The media does not exist to make us into a nation of sick, depraved voyeurs. It exists to inform, educate, improve our lives.

In the case of Salman, this witch hunt has caused enough damage. It is now time for the media to back off and allow truth and justice to prevail.

Q: What is your response to the controversy raging across the country over the tapes?

A: This is the second time I am being put in the dock by the media without even bothering to get my side of the story. In 2003 when a road accident case was slapped on me, the media declared me guilty. But our judicial system, in which I have immense faith, is giving me a fair trial. Now again I am being crucified for no fault of mine.

Q: But did you abuse Aishwarya over the phone and compel her to take part in Abu Salem’s show?

A: Frankly, my initial response on reading media reports and hearing the television channels was one of shock. The media is desperately looking for sensational stories to sell itself in a competitive market, and I was the convenient fall guy. A particular TV channel targeted me because I was among the first to openly come out in defence of actor Aman Verma who was sought to be victimised through a so-called sting operation by it.

Q: Do you recall having the conversation with Aishwarya?

A: Look, the tape is of 2001 vintage. I do not recall any such c o nve r s a - tion. Will you recall a conversation you had with somebody four years ago? This whole thing is so absurd. I heard the tape and I could not recognise my own voice. The voice obviously belongs to a drunken man. The voice attributed to Ash is also most certainly not hers. I believe the cops also feel that the voice is not mine.

Q: In 2001 you were madly in love with Aishwarya. Is it possible that you actually uttered those words?

A: Yes, I was mad about her...almost in a suicidal way. But I did not threaten her to do any show. Assuming for a moment that the voice is indeed mine, what does it prove? Are the threats backed by any action? Did Ash do any show for Abu Salem? Somebody might claim tomorrow that he is the president of America. Does that make him the president? There is no legal or ethical basis for prosecuting me. But I am saddened by the liberal use of four-letter words by the media. What are they teaching children?

Q: Did you ever have any links with the underworld in general and with Abu Salem in particular?

A: This is the most absurd charge anyone could level against me. I am actually a victim of the underworld. I have been threatened by Abu Salem. The cops heard the threats and decided that I should have police security, which I had till the accident in Bandra. I now have private security. But I can handle these threats. I am capable of that. How can I be the underworld’s pointsman in Bollywood? A victim of the underworld is its pointsman? It must be a sick joke.

Q: Is it true that you had advance information about the Mumbai bomb blasts of 1993?

A: This is a ridiculous accusation. The bomb blasts were thoroughly investigated by the Mumbai police and the CBI. The testimonies of hundreds of people were recorded, and a mass of evidence was put together by these investigative agencies. Not once did my name crop up. If my name did figure in the investigations I would have been arrested long back. I find this charge particularly painful. I have never played a bad character in
any film. I believe in my loving my family, my friends and my country. I am as much a Hindustani as anyone else. How can I be labelled a deshdrohi?

Q: Have you been questioned by the cops after the latest controversy?

A: No. But I have always cooperated with the cops. What I don’t understand is this campaign against my film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. Apart from me, Sushmita Sena, David Dhawan and others are involved in this film. Three thousand families are dependent on the success of this film. Why is
it being targetted?

Q: Do you suspect that your rivals have raised this controversy to ensure that the film does not make it big at the box-office? Also, do you think you are being targetted by BJP agitators because you are a Muslim?

A: I don’t want to get into all this. I have no enemies in the industry. I have only helped people and never harmed anyone. As for politics, I don’t understand it.

The investigation into the Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai audio tape, in which the actor boasted of his underworld connections, may face hurdles with the Mumbai Police Commissioner on Thursday saying that the police did not have record of phone tappings of Salman's cell when it was under surveillance on suspicion of being used to talk to gangster Abu Salem.

"The record of conversations taped during surveillance is not maintained for four years. As per Supreme Court directions such tapes are regularly destroyed," Mumbai Commissioner AN Roy said.

According to Roy, the police had placed a cell phone under surveillance in August 2001 on the suspicion that it was being used to contact Salem. It was eventually found that the cell belonged to Salman, he said.

"We tapped the phone for two months after taking due permission, but at the end did not find anything suspicious," he said clarifying why the conversation tapes could have been destroyed then.

Roy, however, said that the ongoing probe will continue to find out if the purported audiotape was a police tape, and whether somebody leaked it.

The Maharashtra government has on Thursday ordered a probe led by Additional CP, KL Bishnoi that would ascertain veracity of the alleged conversation, and check if Salman Khan indeed has underworld links.

Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, had on Thursday made a statement in the legislative assembly, where in he said that the state would take legal advise on the issue if required.

The Media is showing and projecting only one side of this story. Also they are trying to impose their decision. There are one third of people in the would who just believe what is showed to them and what is conveyed to them. They don't even try to analyse the situation. Hence, my request is that make more and more people aware of the other possibilities of this Salman Khan issue. I'm just putting my view across. The Media claimed that Salman Khan has misbehaved with them while they were interviewing them when he came out of Enforcement Directorate office. The Media even showed the clipping in which he was fighting with them.

My question is that why the Media is not showing the entire clipping when he just came out of the Enforcement Directorate's cabin.

I have seen that clippings when they were first broadcasted 2 to 3 years back. In the full clipping it was that as soon as he comes out of the Enforcement Directorate's cabin one of the reporter started calling him Dawood's brother and then rest followed the suite. My question is who were the reporters to call him Dawood's brother and starting acquising, when he was just called for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate and he did not had any charges against him at that time.
Don't you believe that this tape may be the result of all this. Salman Khan may be distrubed by this incident and hence he took all the blame on him he even claimed that knows Guru Satam and Chota Rajan who contradicts that fact that Guru Satam and Chota Rajan are rivals of Dawood.

One more point to be notice is that even Abu Salem and Chota Shakeel were rivals inspite that both of them were working for Dawood.

Observe the right hand of Salman Khan you will be able to see black background which may be mistakely understood as shadow but if you clearly observe you will notice that shadow of other people posing in the photo is to their Left side.

Also carefully observe the left side shoulder of Salman Khan it looks somewhat straight, just like suppose you are cutting a picture with scissors. It looks different then the cutting of right side shoulder.

Also if you enlarge and see the image you will find out that left side of Salman Khan's head does not exactly blends with the background.

This is clearly a morphed picture which the Media is showing.

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s four-year-old

telephonic conversation with actress Aishwarya Rai where he claimed

that he, and not Sanjay Dutt, was involved in the 1993 Bombay serial

blasts can at best be described as an act of bragging. For, the CBI,

which probed the blasts, has not found any trace of evidence to even

remotely link him to one of the dreaded terror attacks in the country.
Sources said around a week back Mumbai police wrote to the CBI

asking them to shift through its records to find out whether Mr Khan’s

name had figured in the blast investigation. The police made request

after media recently ran stories quoting the transcripts of the

controversial conversation between the two matinee idol believed to

have taken place during August 28-30.
The CBI in response to their request had written back to Mumbai

police seeking a copy of the tape or transcript of the conversation.

However, the Mumbai police dispatched a portion of the transcript of

the conversation spread over two-pages where he is said to have

accepted his association with Dawood Ibrahim and his brother Anees

Ibrahim.
Apart from claiming that he had all the “information about the blasts”.
The CBI’s Special Task Force, established to probe the blast, swung

into action only to discover that there was not even a reference to his

name in interrogation of the accused arrested or others examined by

the sleuths.
According to the transcript, Mr Khan, known as the bad man of the

industry for frequently inviting trouble, denied that Sanjay Dutt had

links in the blasts. Rather he said; “In the bomb blast, Sanjay Dutt

wasn’t involved. It was me. Sanjay had nothing to do with it. I had all

the information about ....the blasts. I did what I had to do. Now I am

getting calls from Salem”.
Early this week, the CBI officials have informed that the Mumbai

police that he does not have any role in the blasts. He might have tried

to threaten Ms Rai by dropping his connection with the Bombay blasts,

a way to force her to accept what he wanted, said sources.
The CBI investigations into the blasts was over a couple of years back

and the sleuths are awaiting the judgment of a Mumbai Tada court,

which has reserved the order for some time now. In the conversation

with Mr Rai, which is laced with abuse, the bollywood star was

pressurising her to do a show he claimed was hosted by Abu Salem. "

underworld because they are directly airing AL Zazera news channel

salman wouldn't do such a thing, because i mean come on there was no show for aish to do, in what the tape was saying! it is sooooooooo fake, and the gang thing i think it is fake because if he was then he would have got in trouble already from teh police! he is innocent, someone is just trying to frame him cuz he is at the top and is doing nothing wrong, and is finally over aish, and he is in a healthy relationship wit the new love in his life, katrina, that is why someone wanted to frame him on the day his movie with katrina released!
