Just like a kapra which is stained , so is the mind,
like bleaching a kapra, the kapra becomes clean
like bleaching mind , the mind becomes pure and clean
Naam Simran bleaches the mind, it makes a person have clear and much fresher thoughts
lets try and practice naam simran, i bet majority have no problem saying "waheguru" take
at least 5 mins of your precious time for the Lord which created you, myself and others
Praise God when you have the time, Life is too short for anything else

SSAkal bhaji....!
Yeh, good words there...! Very sentimental indeed, but sentiment in itself, never ever done anyone, enough justice to right that wrong, carried by the human mind!
Just as one bathes the body in water repeatedly throughout life, in the hope of keeping it clean for a period of Time, cos for sure it will get dirty again just like soiled cloth...similarly, one can only clean their mind 'temporarily' using the above 'sentimental mantra' before the dirt of sin, settles back into the very place you cleaned!
The mind being the mind, can never change it's ways. The mind was made to love all that is 'Sin' and it will not change it's spots, no matter what you do. Yes, the 'mantra' you wrote will clean the mind for sure, if one takes the trouble to read, understand and then apply it in their life. But, taking a 'bath' to clean the mind every now and again is not the answer, ...a temporary solution maybe, but definately not 'the answer'!
If at the point of death, you still hold a 'dirty mind'...cant see how it's going to help me, you or anyone else!
What say thee now...?

yeah i understand what your saying, but the one of the main things in life is to chant the lords name, "it helps" you spiritually, but i do agree with you bhaji, other practices are involved like seva, reading paath etc, all these go hand in hand to achieve the ultimate goal, and that is to get us to Nirankar ;)
ssa bhaji ;)

How did you know it was a nice day then, you must from the UK! Well if you are, yeh...it was gorgeous, about time too! What part of the UK you from?
Ok, back to the Board....ahhhhmmmmm....if anything is going to help the mind, it will not be all the chants, seva, parth or whatever, it will be Praising The Lord.
Praising The Lord is, the highest Deed of Religion (ask anyone in the know).

Just for the record, there's a difference between 'chanting' and 'praising'! The former repeats, monotonously a few words or sentences, whereas the latter, is 'to extol, to magnify, to glorify on account of perfections or excellent works, to do honor to, to display the excellence of; applied especially to the Divine Being'. Best not to mix the two, it may give the wrong impression to some!
Ahhhmmm...doing seva, parth, chants or counting mantras inflates the ego really! The very fact that you are knowingly doing all of those, to show people or yourself, that you are now humble is 'inflating your ego'!!
'Praise', when done by minds of ego or no ego, 'praise' The Lord! So, the ego bit is not essential when one 'praises' God.
Humans naturally carry ego in their minds till they leave the World, the percentage of it may vary from human to human, but regardless it exists in all! To completely remove ego, only a rare one achieves that, on this Planet. So, like I said earlier 'the mind cannot change its spots, no matter what' (for 99.9% at least)!
Here's something for you to think about. Say I fell in love with you and sang you some nice songs in the moonlight with my banjo, under your balcony to woo you into my arms....ahhhmmm, calm down, dont take this seriously.....would 'praising' you like that, make you 'feel love' for me or not? Or would you prefer me 'chanting' 'O'Sahar, Sahar, Sahar, Sahar, Sahar, O'Sahar...repeatedly till I dropped dead'!!!!!!
See the point! :)

yeah i know want you mean, you refering it too as mechanical chanting, lol
respect', i know Praising the Lord is the the biggest priority, but as a Sikh shouldn't we be doing Seva aswell?
helping not to just yourself but others along the way....
discuss :)
and ur i wouldnt chant Sahar, not worthy of chanting Singh, lolz

Oye yaar soch dah keyu nahin...!! If everyone has got ego in their minds and you do seva for those who have ego in their minds, how will your ego or there's go down yaar ?
It will increase yours for doing seva to them (cos your mind says you done seva for them) and it will increase theirs you did it to, for they want people like you to do seva for them & boost their ego even more! Like I said, The Lords' Praise is the Highest Deed, cos ego dont come into it, everyone is asked to do it, regardless! When one takes steps and actions to do that, not just say it with their mouth, then truly their ego_meter goes only one way...DOWN!!! :)
& read below....for there lies the truth!

Yeh fine hun, bizzy doing loadz of contract work which I need to sort before winter sets in, then it dries up! Whatever 'nuts' I collect in spring, summer and autumn, help me get through winter into spring again....no different to a squirrel really! Anything new in your life, got a boyfriend to bug, a new mobile fone maybe, some fine clothes or maybe decided to get some plastic surgery done...why do people want that, surgery I mean!! :)
Well said there, of course you dont want me to 'say your name' (or die), cos it's not pleasing to the person, its done to! Likewise, what would The Creator 'feel' if one did repetetive monotous seva, chants, mantras, parth and all sorts to The Lord! :)

you what do you think the purpose is of Guru Ji starting Langar?
depends on the person doin Seva, doing seva one should consider it as God doing as it is good and the bad faults of a human is our minds

Ok, I was going on what Sewa really means...anyone doing a service in The Guru's House/Temple is doing 'sewa'...but I guess you were just thinking of 'langar sewa'! Yeh, nothing wrong at all with doing 'langar sewa', which was introduced by Guru Nanak to remove 'Caste' from Sikh society. It wasnt introduced to remove ego, was it!
Doesnt matter where I live in the Uk, does it...!! I work all over mate, I'm in Dublin, Ireland at the moment & got three houses....which one should I consider 'home'!
