What did you think of it? I thought it was very 'real', and I loved the message that Aishu tried to potray through this movie. I dont know...but this movie had a very 'down to earth' kind of a feel to it, very natural, and reflective of rural India today..the issues that the underdeveloped India faces on day to day basis. I thought that it was commendable that a director would go and make a film like this, which is very non-commerical and unpragmatic. Swades is about a change for the better, it is about one man who understands and realizes the responsibility he owes towards his motherland. It is about being self-less. Mohan Bhargava, Shahrukhs character in Swades is that one man. He is that light in the dark, he is that one man who feels the pain of people there, (unka dard mehsues karna), and devises ways in which conditions can be improved. I feel with him, being an Indian, it makes me wanna go back and help my country.
I feel that the movie was seriously under-rated, it deserved to win more than one (major) award at Filmfare. I was quite shocked, to say the least, when Yash Chopra won alll the major awards. This is not a bash against him or his films, which are beautiful love stories, but Swades was a different movie, there may be another Veer-Zaara, by Yashji, but there may never be another Swades. It, in my eyes, was unique, larger than life and extremely mind-provoking.
Shahrukh's acting in it was just flawless. His expressions were very natural. After Kabhi Han Kabhi Na, Swades is by far his best performace..just look at the 'train' scene.
The Zee Cine Awards is coming up next, on 26 March. I am going to vote for Swades. It has been nominated for 9 major awards. It deserves to win these awards. Veer-Zaara has already won major awards at Filmfare. In my eyes it is extremely unfair to 'keep giving' the awards to the same films, same directors. That is just baised. I urge you to vote for Swades. That is all!

Swades gave jerk to some ppls but it was probably mad with an inspiring spirit to give some message not for the Fun..
This stressed on the major Problem of India i.e. Brain Drain...Some PPls from India may be very briliant but India as a whole has done nothing to boast about
true India is in its villages....they need to rise and probably India does n't deserves Democracy....
It will be very nice thing if director like Gowatrikar come up and get atleast a trace of success in inspiring ppl...

Take the example Of Mit,Princeton,any League College where u will find the same Indians at very high posts..take example of bell labs , even take example of Nasa where 33% ppl are Indians....u pick up any field there whatever it is ....u will Find Indians there and mind u i can say that India is driving them and i am waiting for the time when India emerges as an SuperPower and that time is surely gonna come..
By urs statements it clearly seems that u are referring to India as an country of beggars...i hate the ppls just like u who just bark...
For urs kind infn. i can give u many examples like this one of srk in Swades.....We have 95% of Proffs here who all are from all the top US Ivy League Universities and they could have earned 10 times more what they are earning here .....What is this giving to them,,Come here and ask them u will get the answer...

ive lived in India fer 12 good years of my life..en lemme tell ya...its a lot better than states or canada included..en im not jus sayin that...sure india has its bad qualities..but then so does every other nation in the world. . sure standard of livin in both states and canada maybe higher...but bein bak at home..has a totally diff kind of a feel to it.

Pali i liked urs reply but the merit or talent cant stop in India....
Firstly India cant support high level infrastructure or research facilities but its very important that ppl should think abt their home country and should atleast support it financially.....
PPl should certainly take higher education in top us universities but eventuallyy return here and utilise all their talent here...
