Inzy unhappy at Younis being appointed vice-captain

Monday, May 30

Bridgetown: After the brawl involving stand-in captain Younis Khan, captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and all-rounder Shahid Afridi, stand-in skipper Younis Khan is facing the wrath of his teammates.

The Pakistan Daily-The News carried a report which said that Younis who was a revelation with the bat on the India tour, faced minor problems from a few players even while he was leading the side in the last two One-dayers in St Lucia due to the forced absence of regular captain Inzamam.

"Even in the final ODI, Younis faced problems with Abdul Razzaq who showed his displeasure when he was told that Rao Iftikhar would bowl the death overs,"-The News quoted.

"Razzaq wanted to bowl in the final overs but Younis told him that he would like Iftikhar to do this and that left the all-rounder unhappy and in a bad mood."

Besides the spat involving Afridi, Younis and Inzamam, came another startling revelation that many of the team members including Inzamam were unhappy with the appointment of Younis as vice-captain in place of Yousaf Youhana for the Indian tour.

"Inzamam was never happy with this change in status quo as far as the vice captaincy is concerned but given the team was touring India and the jobs of the coach, captain and careers of some other players was on the line, the team gelled together to beat the old enemy," the newspaper said.

To make his cup of woes full, Younis also did not please many with his comments at press conferences and prize distribution ceremonies after matches.

"Some of the comments he made as skipper at press conferences and prize distribution ceremonies after matches also apparently didn't please Inzamam and his supporters who felt he was getting too big for his boots," the paper added.
