Producer: A.B.Corp Limited & Satyajeet Movies Pvt. Ltd
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, John Abraham
Preview
Mahesh Manjrekar, who hasn’t savoured success after the gut-churning Vaastav is also treading a fine balance, opting for a Saaransh-style film with Sharmila Tagore and Amitabh Bachchan. To be sure, John Abraham beefs up the proceedings but it’s the senior citizens who take on the mob in Virudh.
Vidyadhar Patwardhan (Amitabh Bachchan) is happily married to his wife Sumitra (Sharmila Tagore). Both are retired – whilst Vidyadhar was a ground manager at Air India, Sumitra was a school principle. They live a tranquil and peaceful life together.
However tragedy strikes when their grown-up son (John Abraham) is killed after unintentionally witnessing some criminal activity. This obviously has a massive affect on his parents. Their lives change forever and the most testing struggle of their lives begin. Vidyadhar and Sumitra find themselves seeking justice in a cold and uncaring world, making them question their faith in human values and society.
Sanjay Dutt makes a special appearance in the film, playing the lead couple’s rugged car mechanic neighbour, who offers them support in their hour of need. Sachin Khedekar plays a corrupt police officer and VJ Anousha Dandekar makes her debut as John’s foreign girlfriend.
Amitabh Dayal who debuted in ‘Kagar’ is keen to act with his idol Amitabh Bachchan.
Star Gold is coming up with new and interesting promotional strategies for upcoming Bollywood films. The channel has tied up with AB Corp’s movie Viruddh starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham. As a part of the promotional package the channel will run a month long contest where Amitabh and Sharmila Tagore will choose an ideal couple based on the kind of relationship they share. The winning couple will be awarded with an LIC policy worth Rs 5-lakh.
