MPKK's music is fun, at times

Salman Khan winces. Sushmita Sen sulks. Katrina Kaif pouts. Sohail Khan threatens. Arshad Warsi frowns. Isha Koppikar giggles. And a white-wigged mom slaps in six continuous frames. Oh boy! This could be a hit.
That's the first reaction that comes in your mind after viewing a one-reel theatrical trailer of Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. It's hilarious. It's animated. It's spontaneous. It's David Dhawan. To use slang, promo-wise, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya looks completely kick-a**.
And then comes the music. Is it as happening as the promo? Sometimes, yes.
Composed by Himesh Reshammiya on Sameer's lyrics, the tunes are a mix of cool and not so cool.
The soundtrack begins on a foot-tapping note with Just chill. The instantly catchy discotheque ditty is easy on the ears and infectious enough to shake a leg to. This is one chill pill you wouldn't mind popping. The remixed version by Akbar Sami is as much fun, with some nice calypso beats.
More boogie-woogie comes your way with Dil di nazar. It features the voice of Bombay Viking front man Neeraj. It's fast-paced, mushy, teenybopperish and all that. But wow it is not.
Desi jhatkas take over with Sajan tumse pyar. The song comes across like an extension of Laal dupatta from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Reshammiya rehashes the naughty Tera pallu sarka jaaye from Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge to create the tepid Ishq chunariya.
The Khan brothers -- Salman and Sohail -- indulge in a tug of war over Katrina in Teri meri love story. Singers Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Babul Supriyo put on their best wannabe accents to make this track the most irksome of them all. But if you enjoyed Reshammiya's Aa meri life bana de in Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, this one could be your poison.
Post-Main Hoon Na, Sushmita Sen reportedly said she isn't going to repeat her sari-clad hot avatar in any more films. And yet, there she is seducing the screen and Salman in a cool orange sari in Laga prem rog. Vivacious and spicy, Laga prem rog is bound to be a hit with the jhankaar beats crowd. Ditto for the remix.
Kamaal Khan and Sunidhi Chauhan vow to spend the rest of their life with each other, in the song of course. Scant melody and digital arrangement, however, ruin Ye ladki's chances of striking the right chord.
The music of Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya is mostly 'time pass.' So if you want to 'just chill', you know where to look.
